Support

WOW…in way less than 24 hrs S was contacted by 13+ current Otterbein MT and Acting students. He said “I think I know just about everyone in the program now” LOL He believes this speaks volumes for the program. He also said “Elizabeth Doyle is loving her job today, she was as excited to give me the news as I was to get it” LOL I’m still a little stunned, I didn’t see this acceptance coming because its such a small class but I’m so excited for him.

Thanks to all the Ottermoms who are as supportive as the children they raised. Especially Times…who may have cried as much as I did yesterday ! LOL

Absolutely paying it forward, MTMC! We had the same experience last year. It has to be one the most genuinely kind and supportive groups of kids and parents I have ever encountered anywhere. :)

Happy sigh
I’ll admit that a big part of my decision process for helping son create a school list last year was the “feel” of the school and the people who make up the school community. The Otterbein posts by students, parents and of course Dr. John certainly made Otterbein stand out as a place I would like my child to be. We too are stunned by son’s acceptance, and I honestly didn’t want my son to get his hopes up too high. Special thanks to Times3 who reached out to me at the beginning of this process and shared her enthusiasm for the program and Otterbein, as well as her support.

So happy for your son and your family @entertainersmom! Otterbein is a pretty special place! My daughter loves it as much today as she did the day she was accepted.

I was thinking the other day what a wonderful ambassador @Times3 is for our kids’ school! I know that since there’s such a small group of parents relative to the number of students accepted, some parents are not comfortable with the spotlight (unlike our kids!). I know there are lots of parents that send private messages to help prospective families (like @abparent did for me!), and I love that too. I so appreciate how Times3 is a frequent and thoughtful poster and has helped so many prospective families!

Well, @kksmom5, I’ve probably told a hundred people about how much you helped me with encouragement and advice last year when my son came down with the flu 3 days before his Otterbein audition! One thing that I’ve realized during this odyssey is how much our kids will need to depend on each other for support, connections, encouragement, and even sometimes honest redirection, not just in college but in the years to come. The theater world seems like a pretty small one, a lot like my own field (I’m a photography teacher). Our kids will be collaborators, in college and beyond, and I hope we’ll all be able to keep in touch as their theater paths unfold!

Well said @Times3 . . . it’s too tough of a business to not support one another, and have parents that support one another as well. (P.S. Now I understand why your photos are so beautiful . . . so do it so well that you are able to teach it!)

My S has made it through to the “deferred” round! So excited for him! Everything I’ve read about this program sounds like the perfect place to send off our first college bound child. Does anyone want to venture a guess at approximately how many students remain in the “deferred” pool. I know March 1 is not that far off, but it would just be so amazing for him to get an offer I can’t help but wonder about the odds.

Congratulations to your son! It’s encouraging to make it this far! I’m not big on making public predictions, and they haven’t done the deferral thing for a couple of years, but I sent you a PM with a few observations about my son’s experience in 2013. Keep us posted, please, and break a leg!

Congratulations!! Please keep us posted.

Thank you both @Times3 and @entertainersmom‌ I will certainly keep you posted. My S said Dr. John suggested a correction to his song performing and it instantly felt right and made him better. So at the very least Otterbein has already helped in that he feels the rest of his auditions improved as a result of that interaction. That really says something about a program.

My daughter had one of her best audition experience with Dr. John, she did a walk in, so Otterbein was not on our radar at all until then. She is also “deferred”, let’s see what happens after March 1st.

@my97MTbaby‌ glad to see another “deferred” on the board. I’ll let you know if we hear anything on this end.

@Jrdirectortommy‌ I will do the same.

No news here yet, anyone else hear anything

Tumbleweed…sounds of howling wind… :frowning:

Nope, we haven’t heard anything yet

Hardest wait ever.

It does seem like an eternity, doesn’t it? Hang in there!

Hopefully it won’t be long and this thread will light up

the waiting…the waiting…do you think its possible calls would come in over the weekend? Maybe the Mar 1 date was a typo… :open_mouth:
