Is it true that the accpetance rate for Indiana will be somewhere around 40%?

Also, does Indiana look at freshmen year grades? If they don't, that helps me tremendously.

Wow, where are all these rumors coming from? Probably HERE. I think that's an urban legend, CIA....lol. Indiana U may be getting more applications, but none of us knows exactly how many more or what they're doing about it.

Be more concerned with your ACT or SAT scores and gpa. I don't think most colleges look that closely at Freshman year, although it does affect your overall gpa. If you care to share your gpa and test scores, we might be able to tell you if you have a good shot at getting in or not. When did you apply?

They are getting more applications, but I doubt it will drastically drop to 40%. I posted that thread, but then called the admissions office and asked if they still were at the double mark at this point and they said "applications have cooled off a bit, but we still have a lot more than last year".

I don't think they look at Freshman year grades. A representative (Terry Knaus) came to my school and told me that they don't look at them. Of course, that was a while ago, and I wasn't taking notes, so I may not be correct here, but that's what I recall.

He did tell me though that GPA was MUCH more important than test scores. And if you look at the rejected applicants on this site, you will see that's pretty true. They have fantastic test scores, but if that GPA is lower than a 3.0, it will be near impossible to get acceptance. There are of course, the select few that gain admittance with that GPA.

I remember commenting on your chances a while ago and I think you don't need to freak out. I think you're getting in. I had a classmate with a 3.4 and a 22 on the ACT and she got in with some small scholarship money. You have better test scores and equal GPA. I think you don't have much to worry about.

Alright, thanks for the replies. I feel tremendously relieved.

what kind of scholorship money did she get...I was hoping for a little money but i got nothing, I have a 1310 SAT and 27 ACT but a low GPA 3.0 unweighted. However, my senior year I have all A's with 1 B, will they reevaluate and maybe offer me some money down the road?

Ask your counselor to send in your mid-year grades. The scholarships state that if you take the ACT again and get a higher score, or your gpa changes, that they would re-evaluate the scholarship money. It wouldn't hurt to send those grades in and see what happens.
