I understand from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions that Georgetown is completely full and that no one is coming off the waitlist.

Can anyone verify the above post or is it just a ■■■■■ (joined today, one post)?

If they truly aren’t accepting off the waiting list, it would be very odd. they have been known to give bad financial aid, and many people turn them down because of this. Plus, the waiting list letter said that no offers were made from the list one out of the last ten years or something. In fact, for the school of nursing and health studies (mine), 50% were accepted from the waiting list a couple years ago. I definitely think that GeorgetownHoya’s post was a ■■■■■ post.

Georgetownhoya, how did you find this out?

Obviously a ■■■■■, they are required to accept fewer students during regular admissions because DC’s code requires them to maintain an incoming class of exactly 1580, and not 1581 or higher, which means that if they accept too many, they risk going over the limit. Thus, they go to the waitlist every year.

I’m not entirely sure that Georgetownhoya is correct, I highly doubt this information.

Total ■■■■■. That’s GeorgetownHoya’s only post!

Unfortunately, Georgetownhoya is not a ■■■■■. My college counselor and family friend/alum who called on my behalf both reported that they are overenrolled by 20-30 students. I’m on the waiting list too and I’m devastated.

@anfrac

that isn’t true they’ve accepted enough people to fill their class over about 2x over…

i don’t think Hoya’s a ■■■■■ but neither do i think he/she is entirely accurate,

that being said, i’m pretty sure there’s only going to be a handful of people who’re accepted off the waitlist if any at all

as of now anything any1 says (including me) is pretty much speculation so just ride it out for the next 3-4 days and we’ll all know by then

until then… ;)

Until then… we have noooo idea :)

well i was gonna say peace out and good luck but that works 2 :P

Where does everyone have their deposits?

I assume you mean where have people accepted? Washington University in St. Louis.

I have my deposit in Wesleyan University.

@ everyone else. You guys are making me so nervous. You know the paper they attached with the waitlist letter shows the percentage of people accepted in the different colleges, and over the past four years, there were atleast some acceptences off thr waitlist. Only one i recall not accepting any was MSB the year before last year. So i doubt that they won’t take anyone off the waitlist. I hope. Plus doesn’t matter if they admit more than twice the enrollment, the yeild rate is close to 40%.

tufts university, but gtown is still my #1 choice…

NYU but Georgetown is my d’s first and only choice. she’s considering gap year if she doesnt get off wlist and then maybe apply as a transfer student. We’ll know in a couple of days…

Vanderbilt, but school of foreign service would be amazing.

For anyone who is claiming they overenrolled, is that just Georgetown college OR is
it all the colleges? Moreover if they already know they’ve overenrolled why haven’t we been informed?

Which is why some people suspected those posts to be ■■■■■ posts… as Georgetown would have told us if it was full I think (hopefully) by now, rather than have us all wait till the 15th.

@ vikramcpo: Yea true because last year my son was informed around 3rd of May I think… much earlier

I just spoke with undergraduate admissions and he stated “No one has been called from the waitlist as of yet and that everyone would know by May 15th.” So there is still hope!

I applied to Georgetown College so I don’t know if when they said they overenrolled it was just to the college or the whole freshmen class. Even if they manage to have enough students get off other waitinglists/open up spots, it still means they are not going as deep into their list as they have in previous years. My college counselor suspects that when we get our letters there will be an offer to stay on an extended wait list.
