Georgetown - Any news on Waitlist?

Anyone have stats on Waitlist-- how many on list, what historical acceptance is from that list, etc.? When do they typically send out notices.

I don’t know about the number on the list currently, but I know that in the past they have had mixed acceptance rates. I think they fell (for the College) near 15% or less pretty consistently, but obviously it varies year to year based on how many enroll come May 1.

An Admissions Officer told me that they would notify us around May 15th. My impression is that on that date, the vast majority of waitlist-ees will be notified definitively “yes” or “no” as to their acceptances. A select few will be placed on a prolonged waitlist that will notify sometime over the summer.

you’re kidding me right? there is a prolonged waiting list? as if this isn’t nerve racking enough…but i want to go there so bad that i would still probably wait it out and hope for a miracle

has anyone heard yet (is it a rolling notification or group notification)?

I’m pretty sure it’s a rolling notification - I got off the waitlist on May 1 last year, and I know someone who got off the waitlist on April 29th last year…but others who didn’t hear until May 14-15th.

Did they call you or send snail mail?

well i guess tomorrow is college decision day, so people will start being plucked from the waiting list pretty soon

Hi

i have put in waitlist and I am dying to get in. Have you heard anything or do you have any hope

I got a call on May 1st from a financial aid officer (not even during 9-5 hours) asking if I would still get off the waitlist with the package they gave me, an email on May 2nd or 3rd, and a letter on May 9th with my official admission stuff. It was kind of annoying because they had apparently tried to call my home phone and it was always busy when they called. Good luck guys!

waaw that means you were a good student for them and they didnt want to loose you

So I’m thinking maybe when the admissions officer said “May 15” to me that it meant “by May 15”. Rolling until that!

I received an email confirming my waitlist status last night so it seems like they are update about this info…prolonged waiting

i got a receipt email today basically verifying whether i was still interested in getting off the wait list or not. I think it was intended to weed out those applicants that realized they had no interest in georgetown since accepting a place on the waitlist (don’t know if there are many). I got the sense that this email was sent to everyone on the waitlist.

I got the email as well, and just sent a package via snail mail with an additional letter I wrote - most likely we’ll hear before May 15th.

do you know if there is a preferred waitlist this year. I know there was past years but I havent heard such a thing this year. Any ideas?

so from what i can gather, if there is no word before may 15th, its not gonna be good news?

to pachalon, probably not

Has anyone heard any updated information from the admissions office? What majors do you guys want to do there/what college?

just the generic receipt e-mail. i applied to the college
