An extended wait list would be the WORST
This whole limbo thing has ruined my college application experience already… I just want closure.

seriously… if they overadmitted why can’t they just give us the closure. i applied early action, i’ve been waiting since ever and i’m so tired of waiting and losing hope more than 2 times now.

how many people are on this waitlist?? if i dont get in i will cry

Just three days left, but I’m curious? Is it by letter or by phone? And will they really do it on a Sunday?

i talked with and admissions rep a few days ago because i was deciding whether or not to take an offer off the waitlist of another school and she said this year it is highlyy unlikely that they will draw off of the waitlist at all :(.

any other internationals here?

yes or i’m american citizen living outside u.s.

Indian here ;)

US citizen in India :)

So we’ll be hearing this Sunday I guess… let’s see if the rumors are true

I called the Office and we will hear this Sunday I believe

Guys,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, as Georgetown has been a dream of mine for some time now. After reading the posts that stated Georgetown wasn’t accepting anyone off of the waitlist, I got anxious and called Georgetown. I spoke to an admissions officer and after I told her that I read some things onlline, she replied: "Unfortunately, it’s true. We didn’t plan for it to happen like this, but we’ll be sending out a letter informing everyone that Georgetown’s class of 2015 is full. I’m posting this not to hurt anyone, but to hopefully alleviate some stress and not get people worked up while waiting at the mailbox these next few days. I guess I should’ve realized that after attending a summer program there, getting deferred EA, and getting waitlisted RD that it never was meant to be. Oh well, we’ll do great at whatever college we attend. It just would have been nice for it to be at Georgetown.

Hate to crush dreams here, but I heard the same thing from someone in admissions. Looking through these though, it looks like you all have been accepted at some awesome schools, and I wish all of you the best of luck!

I talked to asst dean and she said above rumor HAVE NOT come from their office. She noted that every year these same rumors exist as well as rumors of “preferred wait list”, etc. While she would not say otherwise, she said wait till Sunday

if not, there’s always Burger King

Wait… so it’s over? Or is it now… I’m really confused now with these posts because they are going back and forth. Is the DC law thing true… and if so they’d have to accept people off the waitlist. I think we’ll just have to wait 2 more days, and we’ll know :)

Honestly, I would just wait and see what happens -you’ll get your answer in approximately two days.
Just wait a bit more guys! I know good things will happen, especially to those who wait! :)

yes its over…georgetown HISTORICALLY has gone to their waitlist because they try to underadmit due to the dc law thing. for whatever reason this year, their yield went up and they actually overadmitted by around 30 kids.

the message that I and many others got from admissions is that they are not going to the waitlist this year, and instead are actually hoping that more than usual numbers of their kids get off the waitlist somewhere else or choose to defer admission so that they can avoid getting in trouble with DC zoning.

even for those that are confused, letters are being sent today so that decisions are received by the 15th. in past years, georgetown has called kids that they are offering waitlist spots to before sending official notification. letters are being sent today, no one has been called…you do the math

yes we were all unlucky to be caught in one of the few years georgetown hasn’t gone to their waitlist. it sucks

Just called the admissions office and got the same reply. The Class of 2015 is full but they’re still working some stuff out so there is an extended waitlist with a select number of people. I asked the person I called if she could give me the number of people on that waitlist or more information regarding it but was told that that’s all the information they can give at this point. Out of all the years that Georgetown uses their waitlist, we just had to be the ones who got left in the dust.

Why would they decide to do this only this year? Last year they accepted 80 and 200 the year before. I don’t know why they would over admit under the DC law. I don’t even know what to think now.
They shouldn’t have waitlisted people and give people false hope. They should had told us earlier if this was the case.
