I was just wondering - how common is it for UMass Amherst to rescind acceptances due to grades. Second semester has been fine for me, with the exception of Physics. Like, given the current situation and the teacher being completely unreasonable, there is absolutely no possible way for me to have hope of even PASSING the semester. I really want to go to UMass Amherst, and I was thinking of dropping the class and recieving a WF (withdrew failing) instead of a F for the second semester, and then re-taking the class at a community college over the summer.

Well..I know that acceptance letters do say "upon completion of current classes" meaning you need to finish. On the other hand, I had some problems at school and had to drop some classes, and the admissions office told me to just make sure I get the English credit because I had already met the other minimum requirements. So..I'm taking only one class this semester, then I go home. So they are pretty lenient on stuff like that. Just call and ask so you have a backup story. After all, once your in, they obviously want you there, and it didn't ALL depend on your second semester senior year.

UMass does rescind admissions, but not for just one bad grade. If the rest of your course grades are good, one bad grade will not get your admission rescinded. (I work in Admissions at UMass.) Soccer guy is not accurate in his comments. We do expect applicants to finish their senior year respectably. We will have a waitlist full of folks who want to be here, so we are not desperate for students. If accepted students go into "coast" mode because they got an accept letter and then blow off the rest of their senior year, they may find their only college option in the Fall to be the local community college.
