Acceptances?

I am hearing that UPenn is a difficult school to get into regularly, since they accept almost half of their class early. (I think, but am not sure, that they’re the ivy that places the most emphasis on e.d.?)

with that said, assuming they have x amount of slots available for the class of '09 - how many more people will they admit than there are places available?

excuse the poor wording - i’m a little tired.

yeah penn accepted slightly over half the class of 09 early this year, so they'll be accepting less kids than usual regular, and i'm assuming the number of kids that are waitlisted would grow correspondingly. but i think only adcom knows how many more kids are gonna be admitted than there are slots...

OVER HALF THE CLASSS????
r u sure???

bc, last year it was 34%...

Well, not "over half" but "half"...it was crazy.

I HOPE IT WILL BE HALF NEXT YEAR....do u think so?

oh my bad... 48%

princeton accepted a lot too like a few percentage points difference

Accepting half the class early is not the same as accepting half of all early applicants, which I think may be confusing some of the above posters.

So which is it? Did they fill up half of the class with ED? I thought they usually did 1/3 of the class

Filled up HALF OF THE CLASS with ED. Didn't admit Half...haha.

i read two numbers, 34 and 45 percent, one of which is correct heh

Haha.

34% --> this number is the acceptance rate for early decision applicants.

45% --> this number is the percentage of Penn's Class of 2009 that was filled up by the 34% of applicants that were accepted.

Not sure if the numbers themselves are correct, though.

yeah...it's 48-49% filled.

that rlly sucks

really X 100 sucks

Y does that suck???

because 20,000 kids are competing for 2,500 slots.
