Accepted 2/9

Someone from my school (in VA) found out today that they were accepted to NYU...with $80,000 in financial aid.does anyone know how this could've happened? I'm not friends with this person so I can't ask them.

Has to be a lie lol. 80k financial is a joke for NYU or any other university for that matter.

NYU only cost 50k a year anyhow so what is he going to do with the extra 30k every year?
Unless the financial aid officer was drunk while he was doing his aid its not possible to get 80k a year.lol

And no decision are out yet, not LSP,HEOP or regular candidate. So it is false.

Maybe he meant $80,000 over 4 years?

I have a Facebook friend who likes to brag that he's getting extravagant amounts from colleges, when he really just adds it up for all 4 years.

eta - But I don't know how such an early acceptance is possible either.

such a lie. he can't claim athletics or anything like that, seeing as we are a division iii NCAA school and do not offer athletic scholarships.

probably lying to try to make themselves seem better. 80k is also ridiculous.

It didn't happen.

It's very possible to get $80000 in scholarships from NYU over a 4 year period. HOWEVER, I seriously doubt any regular decision person has found this out yet. EA, quite possible.

FWIW, my son received more than 20K per year from NYU (our efc is under 12K) and he had a 2250 on his SAT

actually guys, i think this guy might be telling the truth, because today in class, one of my classmates told me she got accepted to NYU-Poly and she also said he got $80,000 in scholarships, so i think there is some truth to his and her claim

Oh, maybe its NYU-Poly he talking about. Not the actual NYU school.

Oh yeah NYU Poly already accepted a lot of kids from my school.

It's two different things.

I WANT *****ING 80,000 TOO!!!! Do they even give that much out to transfer students at regular NYU? I know CCTOP at Steinhardt gives 20,000 to transfers (12k merit, 8k need based...I think). Does anyone know how much the Phi Thetta Kappa Scholarship is?

u gotta remember, its not really $80,000. Its $20,000 over 4 years
