I AM VERY FOND OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND WOULD LIKE TO MAJOR IN THEM. I COME FROM A PREDOMINATELY LATINO COMMUNITY IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY IN CALIFORNIA WHERE MOST OF THE STUDENTS DROP OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND DO NOT ATTEND A FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITY. MY FUTURE ASPIRATION IS TO TARGET COMMUNITIES SUCH AS MINE, AND HELP MORE AND MORE STUDENTS BE AWARE OF COLLEGE AND THE BENEFITS OF LEARNING etc...

wow they take a 1700 over 35s and 2300s? wow.

lol affirmative action to the extreme! great stuff!! I guess I'll get in too then.

Rejected with a 2370 and 4.0 uw right here

and yes i'm indian

Whatever it is, you must have been qualified. Besides the SAT, everything looks fine. Race is only a small part, the app must have stood out.

Congratulations!

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!

you guys sound bitter
SATs are not a measure of how hard you work necessarily
obviously Stanford felt he was not only qualified but a good fit for their school and 2012 class
congrats!

hey, dont be too hard on the guy..i got rejected with a 2300+, but i think everyone who gets in deserves to. He was trying to give other people hope, and just saying this is AA is not fair to the OP at all..congrats!!

Thanks for posting the rest of your stats-- from the first post I was simply bitter, but now I understand better. Now I believe that you probably did deserve your spot. (That Spanish score was probably actually helpful, it just shows that you're not a good test taker, even in a language in which you are fluent). Congrats.

Bet: this thread will go over 40 posts in the next ten minutes.

thank you very much, other than the fact that I have been dreaming of Stanford for the longest time, the main reason I wanted to get accepted so badly is because I want to INSPIRE OTHERS!!!, hopefully i can do so, not everyone has the opportunity to score a 2400 on SATs.

I think that a persons traits such as drive, ambition, and passion are what mostly count. ANd thats the message that I want to convey to the 80% of students who do not go to college at our high school.

not everyone has the opportunity to score 2400 on the SAT? The test only costs around $40, and if your really poor, they'll give you a fee waiver.

dude pdef...that was probably one of the rudest things I've ever seen anyone write on a forum. That was pretty racist towards minorities as well. I'm an Indian, and yeah, I do make fun of Mexicans quite a bit, but ****, even I know that people come from different circumstances and have different problems too you know. Just as it's unfair that 2300 people get rejected, it's unfair that URMs can't pay for the expensive tutors that your rich Asian doctor parents can buy for you to get the 2300.

If you're not at Stanford, then all I have to say is, "jealous much?" If you are, then I'm surprised a less-stuck up, classy, elite school such as Stanford would accept a classless individual such as yourself.

Sorry to be rude, but I at least believe you deserve it.

I am so happy for you, OP. It kind of brings tears to my eyes, actually. I wish you the very best at Stanford and I am hoping that you have a wonderful experience there. I think that you will find yourself very much at home. Ignore the stuff about standardized testing here: you deserve to be there!!

(Those are actually words that my son's coach said to him as he was about to embark on his Stanford experience and his words were so true!) Go Cardinal :)
