Has anyone gotten accepted yet?

Yep, I have through the EA program.

yep :)

but waiting for brown

congrats to all who got accepted.

Atreske104-
I'm sure u'll get into brown, don't worry

Has anyone gotten the rejection letter as yet cuz they said we should know by march and march is coming soon....I am pretty worried.

tryied to check online today but site was down.

Students who applied for early notification and whose decisions were deferred will receive their final decision on or before March 31. All students who applied for regular notification will also receive their decisions on or before March 31. Transfer candidates will be notified on or before April 21.

Question for current/ past UNC students:
Is this march 31st date verified or do they usually send the letter out before march 31st?

I think they will be out early. I'm guessing between the 17-20th of March. I really want to go to UNC. You think there is any chance I get in with a 1410 and a 3.35 UW. I am from Florida and go to a private school. My EC's are average and I think my essays are amazing...

What are your thoughts on when we will hear and what you think my chances are??

This helped me answer some of my questions...

but we can read...we know what the website says. Other schools posted April 1 and have already sent out decision letters. I personally received 3 from schools that are notifying April 1. All were regular decision.

What all of us that are waiting for the regular decisions to be sent out is this:

In the past, did they send them out sooner than the March 31?
My guess if mid-March only because they posted that orientation registration opens March 15. But that may not have anything to do with anything.
Would really make sense to let us know before some get pressured to accept other places. I have gotten phone calls from other schools expressing their interest in me and feel bad that I am putting them off.

ok then...

vatownsend: I'm confused. Don't the majority of schools let RD applicants know by April 1? And you don't have to give a firm decision to any school until May 1? While I can understand your desire to have a response earlier, I think the March 31 decision is par for the course for most schools. And many really don't let applicants know until April 1.

yeah, my school guidance counselor told me that UNC and other schools send the admission decisions BEFORE emailing/posting online. and usually, they send the stuff before the date of notification. i'm with mga120 on the mid-march prediction... can hardly wait.

I have already been accepted to 6 schools that I did not apply ea or ed!
all were regular decision.

I have a theory? I think some of the schools that see an applicant that is "better" qualified for the school than usual realize that the applicant is applying to tougher to get into schools and starts calling them earlier and admitting them earlier to try and get the edge on admissions? Could be very wrong but I understand vatownsend's thought process.

It is a bit overwhelming to have schools accepting you in Jan on regular decision! then you don't hear from the others until April. I know that is the posted date and all but the waiting is terrible.

you can express you thoughts and no one gets all upset or anything.

i know that you don't have to accept any school now. but when you are looking at a tuition bill of say 10,000 vs 28000 vs 45000, you just start to wonder about what is the right decision. and then you get into bunches of instate schools that are good schools but not your dream school and you are thinking, should i put myself and my parents through the whole expense and stress of all of this.

now for you that are going to say you knew when you applied or you should be preparing for this...of course. does not change the fact that when you know you are accepted to some schools 2-3 months in advance of others, you start reevaluating. i think it gives the schools that send out the acceptance earlier a little bit of an edge? I have friends that got deferred (unc) and said the heck with it and accepted somewhere else. and another friend kept waiting on a college last year, got tired of waiting and went ahead and picked another school. so it does happen. got to go to class.

hey vatownsend, is virginia your first name and townsend is your last name? I am just curious, because I knew a girl named that and she seemed to have disappeared. But that would be interesting if it was you.

the va is because I live in VA and love the state. The townsend is because it is a family name. the rest is for you to guess.

I have a question:

Have anyone gotten an email recently from UNC? I am asking because prior to January, I received a bunch regarding the chats. After the request for mid-year grades, I received a thanks and then nothing.

So why do they send the "you are invited to the chat" before the apps but not after...unless...?

i go to a private school and the person before me did not log out. sorry.

Private school is not what it is cracked up to be! or maybe it is...depending on whether it is all girls/boys or both! You got lucky with both!

My entire school reads this site and we are all waiting to see who the first person is that gets their acceptance for rd.

Oh, and just for everyone's info....my acceptance to one school was posted online weeks before I got my letter.

to all that got in ea...starting to wish i had applied ea

this waiting really bites.

the ga schools have already posted a lot of the acceptances. wonder why they do it before other states? or is it because i am instate?
