Accepted at NCSU... will I be revoked?

Hey all... I've gotten myself into a pretty fine mess here. I was accepted into NC State University (Honors program no less) and I plan to attend in the fall, but I've failed a class. I have about an 85 in it but I missed 21 days in the class, which means it will be reported as a 69 to the school as if I failed it. So, I'm just wondering whether I'm going to get a little letter telling me to go away or if I'm alright... I don't need the class particularly, but I can't believe I let this happen... help me out if you can.

Wow, I'm going retarded now :-/

The class is Computer Applications I. As you might know, it's an easy, simple class that's not really necessary for anything. The problem is, easy or not, it's still failure...

okay, was this a HS class and how did you just miss 21 days in ONE class? skip it a lot?

Or was this a class outside of school?

Oh, was it one of those early classes you just didn't get up for?

I sound harsh, but if your issue can help others....

How is it going to look on your transcript

Can your GC call the college and ask, and is there any way to beg grovel or whatever to get that C...

You don't sound harsh at all, and if you did I deserve it... thanks for responding.

Yes, it's a regular high school class. I have it in the middle of the day. I missed 17-19 days in the other classes I have. Almost all the absences are excused... I admit I skipped a couple of days but I was also very sick this year, I've never felt so bad in my life. That's just an excuse though, I'm not asking for pity.

As far as my transcript, from what I understand it's simply going to be put down as a 69 like I failed it with that grade, and absences aren't mentioned. My school is incredibly messed up and the guidance counselor NOR the principal can give me a straight answer on that one... believe me, I've asked, more than once...

I've asked every way I know how to help me out, and my guidance counselor/teacher/principal have no pity. I don't blame them for anything, but they aren't going to be helping me I don't think.

You, since your school seems not to care so much, should contact the people at your school and explain the situation. They might understand or at least be willing to be lenient with the punishment. You need to be honest and upfront, because they will be more sympathetic with you then. Tell them the truth and the whole truth.

Or at least that's what I think. Wait for other answers, I could be wrong.

a 69 is a D+...not a failing grade. Technically.

Have your parents gotten involved, because they need to ASAP, as well, call the district, this is when you go beyond the school

You deserved the grade, i guess, but might as well grovel and give it a shot

And callt he school, most likely you will get a probation, etc, maybe have to meet with your Counseler, etc (not a bad thing) at your college to show you can handle it

good luck!!!

I would contact NCSU and advise them of the situation and the specifics. I would be proactive in this situation instead of waiting for them to get my transcript and question the grade. Good Luck.
