I was recently admitted to Tufts and waitlisted at Dartmouth. I would much prefer to go to Dartmouth but unfortunately Tufts wants to know this friday if I want to go and Dartmouth just told me today that I was waitlisted. Is it possible to accept to Tufts and then withdraw in 3 weeks if Dartmouth admits me? How likely is it to be admitted off a transfer list? Thank you so much.

hey, I've applied to Tufts also and I was wondering if you could tell me when you received your decision? Are there any special circumstances that may be the reason why you found out so early? I haven't heard anything yet and am a little worried that they're making you commit by friday
thanks

Well I'm not sure. After I was accepted at Tufts and visited the admissions office to see how many credits would transfer I mentioned my name and they were like "wow! you're stephen jensen? We were so impressed by your application! Come over here everyone Stephen Jensen is here." And then like 4 admissions officers came and started shaking my hand. In short they must have had me confused with some other stephen jensen but last year I applied and was rejected and they didn't tell me until almost july.

Well, if they admitted you, they were obviously adequately impressed with your application, too.

They probably have rounds. Like I got into the first round but as more people tell tufts they won't come back they make more slots available. I hope i didn't come off as arrogent up there I just thought it was a funny story.

hey, what school at tufts did u apply to?

it was a funny story, no one expects a welcoming party, especially from people that thought you weren't good enough only a year ago!

by the way, congrats on your acceptance

also, did you apply for financial aid and if you did, did you get much?

Liberal Arts and Sciences as a chemistry major. The school only will give out need based financial aid unfortunately so I got nothing.

So does anyone know any more about the waitlist at Dartmouth? Is it weighted or what exactly are my chances?

I would call Dartmouth and see where you stand and talk to the head transfer admissions officer expressing your interest. No problem accepting tufts than declining later, happens all the time with waitlists.
