Hi guys! I heard that UCD was harder to get into than SLO but I’m not sure how accurate that is. I guess it depends on major. I was wondering how many of you have been rejected by SLO but accepted by UCD. What major? I haven’t heard from UCD yet and I’m looking to bolster my hopes by seeing how many of you have been accepted. Thanks =)

My son was accepted to both for the same major (computer engineering). UC's are considered harder to get into due to more academic, EC, essay, and testing requirements. SLO attracts a lot of cross over applicants from UCD, UCSB, UCI and UCSC.

My daughter got into UCD and UCSC. She was contacted before she even applied to UCD and had a guaranteed acceptance there in what ever major she wanted. Then, she was rejected from Cal Poly SLO. I am not sure why. We attended a campus tour and a talk from the admissions this summer. From what they told us at during the summer, she should have been a shoo in because all of her stats were well above what they told us was need to get in. She has lots of EC's and 2 jobs too. I don't know the difference.

She wanted Business Admin in Cal Poly.

Nice! I know i've applied to an impacted major (animal science) so hopefully I'll still have a chance at being accepted as a transfer.

accepted to UCD and UCSB but rejected SLO. Major English for all. Don't have any rational explanation.

Accepted to UCI and UCSB-Psychology-rejected from Cal Poly- SLO I was told there were 44 openings with about 1400 applicants. Had I only known.

It's not a good sign that SLO is rejecting such qualified applicants that the UC's have room and money for. SLO needs to cut back on admissions due to financial issues, while the UC's are admitting the students they have consistently admitted. This could be an anomaly for SLO this year and maybe next, but I think if they don't figure it out they might be in trouble. Personally I'd rather go to a UC just because of better national and international recognition. SLO is a great school and isn't ranked as high as UC's because of it's lacking doctoral programs.

Accepted to UCSD (Econ) and UCD (poly sci)---rejected by Cal Poly (business)

Thank you for all those that responded. It gives me hope that I still have a chance at getting into Davis, one of my top choices, even if I didn't have what it takes to get into SLO. =)

UCD decisions are already out.

Not all of them.. For transfers, like me, they notify as they finish them. Transfers hear sometime mid-march-mid-april.

i know you wanted to know about all the people that were rejected from cal poly but i got in calpoly and was reject from ucd and ucsb.. i dontt get this system!?!? applied as microbiology major for both

i got rejected from UCD and accepted to Cal Poly too

Accepted at UCR, UCM, UCSC, UCD, and UoP.
Rejected from Cal Poly SLO...

It very much depends on the major you're applying to and how many others also applied to that major the same year.

Want to know the odds? Go to the department website on the CP website and look for the stats from their freshman profile last year. It will tell you how many applicants there were (to the particular major) and how many they were able to accept. The numbers will astound you.
