Accepted by UCSB, but not 1st choice, change major?

Hi guys,

I was accepted by UCSB earlier today (pre-political science, 2nd choice), although I really want to get into Economics(1st choice)/or Sociology. Is it possible to change major after acceptance?

Some stats:

GPA: 3.69 (Currently a sophomore)
Major Pre-reqs Completed: yes
Intended Major: Economics
Admitted Major: Pre-political science (2nd Choice)
From Out-of-state 4yr private university
No EC
Personal Statement: 4/10
Applied for Financial Aid?: No
State (if domestic applicant): FL (international student, been studying in FL since HS)
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male

Thanks a lot!

Making the switch from Poli Sci to Sociology is very simple. Just email the office of admissions and they will switch your major at any point from now until mid-summer. After that you would need to go through the department. Economics is a bit more complicated although it may be possible to switch after you transfer and complete certain required courses for that major with a certain GPA. I recommend that you contact UCSB Economics dept. for details on that process.
