Accepted CAS, Interested in drama...

I didn't apply to Tisch, and I got in to the College of Arts and Sciences. I was wondering
a) is it possible to transfer into Tisch as a student at NYU CAS?
b) is there an acting minor or can you take classes at Tisch as electives?
c) are there opportunities to do shows at NYU even if I'm not a drama major, or are most parts given to drama majors?
THANKS!

a) Tisch along with Stern are the two most difficult schools to get into at NYU. Tisch requires an outstanding artistic sample/ performance. Internal transfers are notoriously difficult, though not unheard of. You probably have a better chance applying as a freshman. Unless you are somehow developing your ability/ potential in the arts while attending CAS or another school the first year or so to produce an extraordinary artistic sample.

b) There is only the performance studies minor for students of non-Tisch NYU students, This minor appears to be more academic vs. development of professional acting skills. Take a look at the following link.

[Minors: Tisch School of the Arts at NYU](<a href=“Special Programs”>Special Programs)

The Open Arts Curriculum consists of credit bearing elective courses available for non-Tisch NYU students. Unfortunately, the sample of classes for Open Arts is not up yet since they are working on the Fall 2011 schedule. Maybe you can google Open Arts Curriculum at NYU Tisch for current and previous years.

c) I believe competition for performance roles is stiff within Tisch itself. So the chance of you getting an acting part against drama majors at Tisch appears highly unlikely to me.
