Guitr if you have a 4.0 in both, your spot is pretty much guaranteed bro I would sit back and relax if I were you… People in your college should almost be scared of that!

I’m sure most will agree on here that you’re fine :]

@ Danni, what school do you currently attend. I feel as if the University is more willing to accept students from private schools as opposed to State schools because the students who attend private schools tend to be more willing to dish out the cash for a higher education. Then again, I could just be drawing the wrong conclusion or arguing from ignorance.

Does anyone know if you can appeal a rejection? I feel as if you cannot. And does anyone else find it weird that when you ask for your recalculated GPA the admissions officer always refuses to tell you and cites that it is university policy not to disclose that information. I suppose it makes sense, as I mentioned earlier my GPA at UT is a 3.9, and if it were higher then that after being recalculated then the university would essentially be obligated to accept me since they apparently base their decision on “academic merit” in regards to transfer applicants. Has anyone done any research as to how many applicants apply for CLAS and how many are typically accepted annually? I tried to find some numbers but was unable to. Perhaps someone else had better luck.

Also, does anyone have a backup plan if they are denied. I have been contemplating applying to FSU since there admission deadline is in June, but the thought of wearing those heinous colors makes me want to vomit. So I have considered studying aboard or interning somewhere for a semester then reapplying in the spring.

That’s strange because they make it public on the UF catalog.
[Office of the University Registrar](http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/catalog/policies/regulationgrades.html#calculatinggpa)

Plus, UF does not have grade forgiveness so they average all grades in, if there are any retakes.

HopelessGator, I know exactly what you mean. I’m trying to be reasonable and consider FSU a possibility, but as you put it quite nicely (I’ll put in in other words, lol), I really don’t want to be a Seminole. UCF is probably where I would go, but I wouldn’t really be excited about it.

And yes, it is possible to appeal a rejection, an adviser told me that a few months back. Of course it depends on the situation. Say you get rejected but you finished some courses with excellent grades that you would like them to consider, then you could try to appeal. Now if you get rejected and just want them to look at it again, then you’re evidently wasting your time. I’ve heard it’s pretty rare for them to change their mind even if you appeal, but it is possible.

guitr, I applied to the College of Business as a FL CC transfer, but not for accounting. My application was sent around the end of last year and my final transcript in January and I am at the same stage in the process as you.

I have been in touch with Kari Ward through email. She is an online business program coordinator and handles transfer applications for Warrington. She told me that she will be evaluating applications for fall in the coming weeks and that they have no cap on the number of transfer students they accept. Basically, if you meet their requirements you will be accepted. Not sure if all of that holds true for the accounting program also.

Applied to CLAS end of Jan. for summer B. Poly Sci major, 4.0 pre-professional 3.5 GPA, accepted. Checked it at 230am Monday night. I think alot of their stuff changes at mid night and not throughout the day. Also am a transfer from SFCC

Thanks everyone for your support; I know we all have the same frustrations. It’s like a love-hate relationship UF. About back-up plans, I don’t like mine, my other option is FAMU :S and only because FIU is too far away for me. Just checked status, still stuck at international admissions department :(

Houdini, I can’t say I don’t envy you. Congrats on the acceptance! When I started reading your post I got excited thinking my status might change soon too, but when I saw you applied for summer B that changed a bit, lol. I hope the fall applicants find out soon.

You all have great stats, and should not worry so much! I know it’s easier said than done, but remember, you are transferring in and not applying as a first time in college student! It is still competitive, but you all have such strong GPA’s I really think it will be fine!

As far as backup plans- I also applied to UCF however, I took all the classes I needed for my UF major, so I may not be accepted to UCF because I didnt take the prereq classes that UCF needed. I am not the type of person to put all my eggs in one basket but I have done that for UF. I applied for Family Youth and Community Sciences (a UF only major) and I think it hurts my chances of going to any other University. Someone else mentioned on here they need to know soon because they may have to move, ME TOO! If I dont get it then I will be moving back to my hometown, also if I dont get it I will have to take summer courses. I dont know if I need to sign up for the classes or not, or start looking for an apartment back home. We all have a lot riding on the acceptances so I feel like they should have to tell us by the end of this semester so then we have time to go to plan B. I think the end of April is fair enough! :)

Man if CLAS is just now accepting or Summer B I feel like we have a while to go…

mehh Like I said earlier, I emailed CLAS last week and they told me I should find out in 2-3 weeks so I’m hoping that’s accurate. But everyone seems to have different answers so who knows :

Also, just something I found interesting:
http://theufadvisor.blogspot.com/2011/03/uf-transfer-student-allotment-increases.html

*for Summer B

Guitr2648, I was accepted into Warrington on Monday for fall 2011. I know there slow but they are getting to the fall applications. By the way your stats are far superior to mine, so i’m sure you will get in no problem.

Also @HopelessGator, I was denied my major, and offered another by the college, I appealed and my petition was approved so yes it is possible to win an appeal.

@hopelessgator I’m currently at FIU which is a public institution. I’m not sure if they take more private university students or public but regardless with your stats, i’m sure you’ll get in!

@Duvalboyz… congrats on being accepted!!!

how long ago did you apply? also, are you a transfer from a CC or University? and finally, how did the appeal process go? do you have to fill out a form, is there a hearing? everybody here is so anxious I’m sure I’m not the only one that wants to know all the details about the appeals…

I talked to another advisor today specific to my major in the college of engineering, she told me they’re waiting on my final transcripts in spring since i have 5 courses in progress to recieve my AA, two this semester and 3 for summer. She told my gpa is good right now (3.81 overall) they just want to see what it is after this semester. I know I’m on the high side for the number of courses i have left, but if some of you others are in the same boat with pre-reqs still in progress they might be waiting on your final transcripts for spring.

Accepted for Fall 2011! Which was pretty shocking, I must say.

I applied in January to CLAS for Women’s Studies. Because I was taking two minimester courses, I didn’t send in my transcript until late February. My app was almost immediately sent the college, but it took a four-ish weeks to get a response from there.

Basically, I just wanted to say that I hope everyone hears back soon. I’m sure it’s only a short matter of time before everyone gets back. I know that the wait seems like forever, but it’s totally worth it. :)

Ahhh congrats Bookworm =]
I’m really happy CLAS has started to really accept people for fall!!!

I haven’t posted in a while, but I thought I’d check in. I’ve been following along occasionally. And don’t any of you think you’re alone who check 15 times a day, cause that’s me too. The realistic options thing is starting to freak me out, but I don’t know that I can face it. I hung out in Gainesville for 2 days with a friend over my spring break and tried to speak to the head man in the theatre department (my major), but he wasn’t there, so I spoke to a transfer admissions counselor in the general office instead so I could drop off my resume. He first said that something was missing which wasn’t, so then he retrieved it from a colleague, and we chatted for a while as he concluded that my college would be receiving my application by the middle of next week (which would result in an updated status about forwarded application). That was March 18th and still no change. He also seemed very optimistic about my application, but this lapse of time hasn’t inflated my ego in the slightest. Since then I’ve also emailed the man to whom I wasn’t able to speak at the theatre school and he hasn’t answered either. I feel like I’m going in circles.

I haven’t come across anyone else in the thread who is applying to the school of fine arts, but apparently it doesn’t receive a ton of transfer applicants, so I’m hoping that helps. At the same time, the guy had told me the decision shouldn’t take time because of that.

I am in a pickle like many of you. I actually don’t know what I would do if I did not get into UF (shh I’m trying not to say it). I don’t think I could stay at my school no matter what because I can’t afford to stay despite all I have done to try. I have a lot of great friends at FSU but I truly cannot see myself there and never even applied there as a senior. Not to mention I’d have to start over with a major (mine doesn’t work the way I have done it so far) so add on another year at least nbd.

Oh please oh please oh please Gator application meat heads, hear our cries. WE NEEEED TO BE ACCEPTEDDDDDD

oh, and a sincere congratulations to everyone who has heard so far! you deserve it! :)
