i’ve gotten the check back later message multiple times this week. i thought it meant they were updating my account but then i got on later and it was gone with the same message it had before :/

Kttn that’s typically when statuses in general are being updated which is why I suggested to someone else to check after 9pm… it doesn’t mean YOURS specifically is, but when it does change it will probably be after it comes back up from going down in the evening.

So I called CALS on friday to see if there was anything missing from my application since I’ve read how a few people have had that problem and it wasn’t reflecting on their status. The woman really wasn’t helpful at all. She just said that if there was something missing that they’d call me if it impacted my decision. And then she said that if they were to call that it wouldn’t be for a few weeks anyway because CALS still has until April 30th to finish summer apps. So she said I most likely wouldn’t hear anything until the middle of May. More waiting…yay? :(

I’m starting to wonder if part of the application process is done alphabetically… what do you guys think? I don’t see why that would be, but it’s just so random that some people know and some don’t. How do they decide which ones get looked at first? I’ll tell you one thing, I am so sick of this wait.

@ Gatorgirl, I asked the admissions department what exactly determines an applicants decision time. And according to the admissions officer, what they essentially do is bracket applicants depending on when they applied. So since I applied in October, which is relatively early, I am assuming my application was near the top. And therefore, if you have not heard back yet you should not be concerned. It apparently is just part of the process, which is agonizing. Anyways, does anyone know if UF allows transfer students to change there major?

Haha, doubt it would be alphabetical. My last name starts with A, so i’d be top of the charts. Then again I don’t know anyone from ChemE that has heard back.

I wonder if they bracket apps by college or major; because I applied mid-January and got my answer end of February, I had about a 6 week wait time from submitting the application to actually getting an answer. I was quite surprised that I received a response in February, considering the app. didnt go in until January and technically apps could be submitted until March.

I’m at the point where I can deal with getting accpeted or rejected, I JUST WANT TO KNOW.

The wait is really what’s killing me. Especially since I have registration at the end of this week and I don’t know wheter I should just sign up for classes and drop them if I get word from UF or just wait till May to register at last minute.

@ hopelessgator transfer students from what I researched, asked , heard is transfer student can change majors depends what kind of major change. Intra- major change within college one has to be on track with the new program and show proof of why you want to change, etc . Inter- major different college even rarer, be on track with the program, both colleges agree on your change so the program must be similar. Im changing from chem major in clas to chem engineering. I

Hopelessgator, that would make sense, but it still feels like there’s a little more to it than that because some people who applied in February have already found out. I applied at the end of December and still don’t know. It’s so frustrating. I feel the exact same way dannix3, I just want to put out of my misery. As much as I want to get in, I’d rather just know now instead of continually getting my hopes up for possibly nothing.

I head back from the college of electrical engineering a few days ago an I got denied because I did not have enough pre-professional courses completed. As of now I have 2 of 8 completed with a gpa of 3.5. I talked to an advisor from this department and he said that the pre-professional courses are the main factor in their admission decision. He also said that they need to see grades in at least six before they can accept you. By the time I complete at least 6 it will be too late to re apply for fall so it looks like I’m going to apply for spring 2012. The advisor told me that this was the only reason I got denied. My overall gpa is a 3.0.

@yoyoyo2 Thanks for the heads up. I’m currently in the same position as you with only 2 completed as of now. I wont have all 6 done until end of summer. I thought that is what conditional acceptance is for… I got conditionally accepted to FSU. I have to many credits to receive pell grant for fall towards my AA so I have to transfer for fall, ill let every know when I hear back. I applied for computer engineering btw

@ hopelessgator the stuff I read was for CLAS, I read that abouta month ago when I just started researching UF. Howver i have met and talked to the admissions officer n they kept sayin I can’t change it , or decline your acceptance n try another semester. Depends on what advisor.you see I finally got one that told me what i said in a previous post . Also talk to your college advisor , mine told me be a chem major for a semester n take pre reqs (calc 3 n differential equations ) and come fall ill change your major .

Thank STANG72, I want to try and change my major in CLAS to Economics. However, my girlfriend was just accepted to UF as a transfer, and she would like to change her major from French to Art History. She has all the upper level requirements; however, I am not sure whether or not UT offers any of the pre-reqs UF requires and that seems to be the problem. Do you guys think it would be possible for her to change her major?

ahhh this is killing me! I need to know if I need to take classes over the summer, if I’ll have time for a job (if anyone is still hiring at this point), my travel schedule…this wait is getting ridiculous

Was this advisor Ms. Cynthia Sain? Is she easy to get contact with in person? I haven’t had luck by phone or e-mail. I’m going to be up there in a few weeks visiting, so if I hadn’t heard back I wanted to swing by and see if I could see her while I was up there. Any clue if its a long wait or what hours are best to see her at?

@ roiteeru Yep it was ms sain, she been busy with scheduling current cheme, random appointments, etc. contacting is not hard just go early and make an appointment. Outside her office is a schedule of her availability and mr sovoros, just put your name when you want to see her. She tries to keep with theschedule but some apoinments get long. I went to see here at 12:00 and didnt see her to 3, so waiting is expected, wait a long time and she’ll give you a sticker.

I’m dying to see if I got in as a Transfer for fall 2011! I got into the University of Miami but then again, Florida seems more competitive even for florida residents. I’m putting a lot on the line to to to UF so I could possibly be experiencing heartbreak later this week :X

The orientation dates start soon and I wanted to go May 6 for the transfer orientation but it’s not even worth planning seeing as I haven’t been accepted yet.
