accepted/ denied uf transfer fall 2011

Accepted!!! into chemical engineering.

3.3 overall gpa w/ a 4.0 pre prof gpa!!! just updated after the downtime

Congrats!!!

@rioteeru what pre-reqs have you completed?

Calc 1 2 and 3
Physics 1
Chem 1 and 2

So I was just missing Physics 2 and Differential Equations which i’m taking this semester.

does anyone know the specific pre-reqs I should I completed as a transfer student to get into the CLAS school? I declared psych as my major but I might want to change that. Does anyone know how they feel about you switching your major amongst the same school?

I got the number to the CLAS school to call and inquire about the decisions. I called this morning but ended up having to leave a message.

Sabrina, I like to use the facts website to see whats required to transfer. You can see a general overview at https://facts23.facts.org/advising/pickschool.do

I’ve heard that transferring for engineering is fairly simple but most other programs are pretty headstrong about you doing the major you applied for. Of course, talking to the advisors for the program you’d want to switch for would be the best answer you can get.

Sabrina, you may want to check out UF Department of Psych website for transfer students.

Also, check out this link for changing majors.

thanks a lot guys! I should be okay judging from my pre-req’s. I’m taking two classes over the summer that should put me in and one class that I’m currently taking is also a required pre-req. my gpa is higher and I applied out of high school too. hopefully I get in!

As far as changing majors as a transfer think of this way - you’ve been in school for 2 years already. You honestly should have an idea of what you want to do. If it’s something related to the major you are already doing where you don’t have a bunch of extra classes you’d have to take it is probably possible, but if you’re trying to go from psychology to a science where you’re gonna need a ton of extra classes they are probably not going to go for that. They like to get students out within that 2 year time frame if possible… the exception being engineering which takes longer.
But everything I’ve heard it’s extremely difficult to change your major as a transfer. This isn’t like coming in as a freshman where you have time to decide.

As someone from Florida, I have to complain about the sense of entitlement UF students feel. I worked my @$$ of in high school to get a 4.0 (unweighted) and a >1500 SAT (out of 1600). I now go to an Ivy league school (acceptance rate <10%). You guys, on the other hand, feel so special because you got in to a school that accepts 38% with an average SAT of roughly 1300 (out of 1600). That is not even in the top 75% of my school. I’m not trying to take away from the fact that you are excited to go to UF, home of the world’s largest beer bong, however I really wish you would check your egos sometimes. You’re not that freakin’ awesome ok? Besides, most of you won’t even graduate in 4 years.

uhh ■■■■■? ^^^ completely irrelevant

@dartmouth14
You remember family guy when everyone was saying o yea!!! o yea !!! then the cool aid guy say o no!!! your exactly like that get off this form and go study your super complex homework, because you are so better that us. Everyone in this form have been super supportive to others, please keep you negativity to yourself.

Lol, that ■■■■■ came out of no where, too.

ass off*, Mr. Ivy.

I love how he suggested that we’re all full of ourselves and egotistical and yet he’s the one spitting out his stats (irrelevant stats might I add) like we all really cared.

Uf’s graduation rate is 86% I would think that contrary to way the dude said above most will graduate… I can’t wait to find out if I’m in!

lol it’s just he put a post that sounds like it’s directed at new freshman admits… in a transfer thread where 90% of the posters are waiting to hear if they got in. Makes me doubt his ivy league status since he seems to have 0 reading comprehension

@dartmouth14 That Ivy League school must have you pretty busy to be reading up so much on this forum.

Let me help you out, bro.
You should probably check YOUR OWN ego before you go on a completely irrelevant and unnecessary rampage telling other people to check theirs.
Go complain to people who actually give a **** about the bull that you’re typing. If you have an issue with how much people care about getting in, you could probably just STOP READING???

The only person here who seems to have the “sense of entitlement” that you’re referring to, is YOU.

Oh, and for your own good, tell your ivy league to fix your attitude.

Dartmouth, I don’t even know why I’m dignifying your ignorance with a response, but I feel like I have to.

First of all, who on here gave you the impression that we feel “special” for being given the opportunity to attend UF as transfer? Yes, we are excited, but nobody on here has said anything about feeling more entitled than those who got in freshman year. We are all simply discussing our experiences, worries, etc about the transferring process. You aren’t the only person who worked hard in high school. Speaking from personal experience, I graduated high school with a 3.7 unweighted, took AP classes, and did decent on the SAT’s (I’m not going to lie and say they were great). Starting at a community college is nothing anybody should be ashamed of. Many (if not most) people today cannot afford to go straight to a University or a fancy Ivy League school like yourself, so community colleges offer great programs at a lower cost plus the opportunity to transfer to the University of your choosing as long as you work hard enough. It was a good decision for me even though I WAS qualified for University at the time. You really need to stop being such an insensitive, presumptuous jerk. Your arrogance is not flattering and you really need to get your facts straight before running your mouth.

Everybody on this forum has their own unique situation, and it’s very disrespectful and rude of you to get on here and try to make any of us feel less of ourselves. Your only purpose was to insult us, and to be honest, I would think somebody attending such a prestigious institution such as the one you’re so proud of, would have a bit more class. Anybody who cares about their education and dedicates themselves completely to it deserves to attend as good of a school as they can, no matter what people like you try to convince us otherwise.

By the way, don’t you have anything better to do?

@gatorgirl:

if i could like your comment, i would
i completely agree with you.

Thanks wadi3rid  I just wasn’t going to sit by and let him not only disrespect me, but everyone else on here who is so great and doesn’t deserve to hear that completely mean and inaccurate nonsense.
