accepted/ denied uf transfer fall 2011

To the post about the 86% graduation rate…this is a statistic for 6, not 4 years. As for the cost argument, it is irrelevant. Ivy league institutions have arguably the best financial aid in the country. The average debt of an Ivy grad is comparable to that of a UF grad, and people who make under $80,000 a year go here completely free (no loans, just grants). I am happy for all of you who get in, but I was responding to the posts earlier in this thread that were like “WOW!! only 38% got in!!” These people should check their egos. I am also ranting because a UF student ranted at me about how only 4% got in. Please, more like 40%.

Dartmouth14, what many of the posters here, including myself, don’t understand is why you are posing on a UF transfer thread. It seems that perhaps you would like to be praised for getting into an Ivy League as you state the great prospects one can enjoy and financial aid one can receive at such an institution. Maybe because you are a Florida resident you feel left out of the excitement many Floridian students feel attending one of the top universities of Florida. I suggest if you need an ego boost, which it seems you do, to look elsewhere because you’re not going to get it on this thread. Those of us who will be attending UF are proud and excited to be a part of the Gator Nation, and no supposed “Ivy leaguer” is going to deter our enthusiasm. I suggest you head over to your perspective university’s thread where you can discuss your fabulous graduation rate and low acceptance rate. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

■■■■■ bro just give upppp!

Honestly, NO ONE. HERE. CARES.

That UF student was not us. This forum is completely irrelevant to you and there’s no point in even defending yourself now, you’re completely insulting and a bad representative for whatever ivy you go to.
Go post crap on a forum about your school and how much aid you’re getting and how great your stats are.

Dartmouth, here’s a link just for you.

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

This is a transfer thread for UF. I don’t think anyone here feels superior to another school. No one has been sandbagging anyone else. Congratulations on getting into an ivy league! I had chosen some poor decisions, so a community college was my only option following them. Thankfully, that CC also gave me a second opportunity which has allowed me to go to a respectable public university in the country; chances are, a school like Dartmouth would not look at my application with horrible grades followed by a short break and ending with straight A’s.

Good luck, and hopefully you’ll be graduating in those 4 years!

^ Haha, that google link cracked me up!

@rio, lol, cool link.

@rioteeru

very funny lol

Just thought I’d let you all know that my friend got accepted to PHHP last night through the mail. Us waiting for CALS though are still screwed for 2 more months.

And dartmouth is right about ivy league financial aid, that stuff is insane. News flash though dartmouth, probably 95% of us in this thread are from Florida and at a community college. Which is why we want to go to UF. If we were all from New England, and didn’t care to pay attention in high school (otherwise why the hell would we be in a community college), we could easily get into a few of the Ivies without trying due to the lovely articulation agreements with local schools.

If you really want to talk about ego’s though, you aren’t at Harvard, so ■■■■.

seriously, Dartmouth? it’s just a school, and I’m confident when I say that a school doesn’t make you, YOU make the school. with that being said I could care less about the graduation rate because it’s solely dependant on the student and whether or not they wanted to put maximun effort into gradating. So, go back to study your ivy league exclusive books and graduate on time, or go back to Community College (no one here has any proof that you’re at Dartmouth or not, nor does anyone on this thread really care).

As for the rest of us, congrats to everyone that got in. Like Rio said, we got a second opportunity at a CC and we took full advantage to have the possibility to get into UF.

Steel: Does that mean we won’t be hearing back regarding an acceptance or rejection for two more months? or does that mean we won’t be hearing from financial aid for another two more months?

Maybe I’m just showing my ignorance here but I had honestly never heard of Dartmouth before this thread…

@welleriizzzle It is ok, I don’t need people to know what Dartmouth is to validate me. Most people in Florida that recognize it at all remember it as the school that Edward and Bella almost go to in Twilight. And here, the only people who know what “UF” is are also from Florida (ie all 2 of us). So you’re correct in stating your region determines your familiarity with a school.
@sabrina1317 Yes, it all comes down to the individual. I have heard of exceptional UF grads and terrible Dartmouth grads (one just fled the country to escape charges for stealing millions of dollars). However, this is a world where majority rules, which is why schools report average SAT scores instead of the absolute highest or lowest ones. So does an Ivy give people an advantage?

Compare to UF’s $34,435 - $65,496. But I already anticipate the replies that “money doesn’t matter it’s about being happy etc.” so a different point would be nice.

Dear dartmouth14,
Are you perhaps related to a man named Charlie Sheen? If you happen to be, then I suggest fixing somethings, like your immaturity.

@dartmouth - I don’t understand why you’re selectively replying and ignoring the fact this is a TRANSFER THREAD. Not the FRESHMAN ADMISSION THREAD. No one in this thread is on any sort of high horse except for you because everyone is coming from a community college and is grateful to have a chance at completing their undergrad at a respectable institution rather than University of Phoenix or something. Everything you say here is IRRELEVANT. Go brag somewhere else. I seriously don’t understand what you’re trying to prove because you’re trying to prove it to the wrong crowd of people.

@steel

I have applied for phhp as well for the pre-occupational program. Do you know which program your friend applied for and what their stats are? I haven’t gotten my letter yet so I am totally freaking out because we’re supposed to get them this week, so any info is useful :)

We have wasted two pages responding to this turd. He’s probably just being a jerk because he actually didn’t get into fartmoth. Let’s just ignore him and sooner or later he will go. If not let’s all contact the moderator and get him booted.

Just checked my status online and saw that I got accepted into the Chemical Engineering program!!! I am so excited! Cynthia Sain IS a super busy person, that is why, during this time, its almost impossible to actually get in touch with her. I think all of us who applied for Chem. Eng., should know of the decisions in the next few days. Good luck to the rest of those who are waiting. The process has been SO dragged out!!!

@sabrina, check out this link for validation, [UF College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Prospective Students | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/pages/UF-College-of-Agricultural-and-Life-Sciences-Prospective-Students/215248475093?sk=wall), you’ll have to scroll down a bit. But for College of Agriculture and Life Sciences they have until June 15th to notify us. After browsing the last couple years of the transfer thread it seemed some people had to wait till June 15th, and others didn’t. I personally applied March 1st or around then, so I’m assuming that I’ll be waiting till June 15th.

@eae09c, I’m not entirely sure which program, she says it was pre-health, or pre-PA (I’m not particularly familiar with the programs offered at PHHP though. Her stats are great, 4.0 I think (non-trad also). She told me that they already have a waitlist for the program and they are already waiting on people to commit to the program or not so they can notify others. Don’t worry about the letter, you’ll probably get it Friday. Hopefully it’s good news!

edit" ^ congrats!

Steel, thanks for that link. I was afraid we wouldn’t be hearing back until later in the summer. The university of Miami is requiring an enrollment deposit from me by may 1st which is why I wanted to know about whether or not I got into UF. It’s a tough call but I’ll have to start preparing to go to UM, sadly. I’m strategizing if there’s a way around this situation. I already tried calling UF but they said they couldn’t hurry the review of my application just because.

congrats letsdrinksometea!! thats so exciting and i’m happy that one more person is able to set his or her nerves aside. do you know where you are living yet? ha how long can we wait before there’s nothing left…that’s the one thing i feel worried about (oh besides the fact that i’m still waiting to hear about my admissions decision)

this really does feel dragged out on their end. i’m sorry about your current situation sabrina1317 and it’s understandable that you feel worried. but i am sure it’s going to work out for you and that you will hear in time!!
