I bet all of you that Darmouth14 is gay. His mannerisms and approaches are very feminine. No man would disrespect any female or person in the manner of which he did. Karma is going to destroy his flamboyant ego. He’s an ignorant narcissist. Everyone should be proud of getting in UF. Don’t let his ignorance deter your bliss. I will be a freshman at UF this fall and I am ecstatic that I got in. Nothing no one says or thinks can break my spirit. Everyone wasn’t blessed with the opportunities @Darmouth14 was blessed with. Instead of trying to demoralize everyone, he/she (whatever he/she refers to himself as) needs to be applauding everyone for taking the next step, which is attending college.

With that being said, @Darmouth14 you need to be excommunicated out of this thread because he is sophomoric jerk. You may be intelligent, but you don’t have any manners or respect. Your attitude, moralities, and perceptions will not get you far in life no matter how intelligent you are. Manners and respect will take you further than education (I’m fairly certain that someone has told you this several times before).

P.S. Darmouth is ranked 9th in the U.S. I was accepted into Duke University, which is also ranked 9th in the U.S. but I decided to attend UF. Since you are so intelligent, why didn’t your smart a$$ go to Harvard? Whatever your response is to this is irrelevant because you automatically lose. Winning!!!

@JeromeFulton, regardless of the fact that what Dartmouth14 said was out of place, why would his sexuality matter? And if he was gay, so what? It is incredibly tactless to attack someone’s sexuality, regardless of what they may have said

Everyone,
This thread is about transferring to UF, and information that is useful to that end. I am extremely disappointed that every time I log on here there are pages and pages of posts of people bashing one another, rather than doing what this thread is intended for. Can we all move on from this petty squabbling? We just need to share the knowledge we have about the admissions process, and support one another. Lets all grow up: this isn’t high school anymore.

I would usually agree with your suggestion possiblegator, but it’s kind of hard to listen to someone’s advice who hasn’t once contributed to the topic of this forum until there was a dispute. Though I do think the subject needs to come to a close, we were all simply explaining to the guy his irrelevance to this discussion and his lack of respect for other people’s feelings. People like that usually need someone else to tell them that they’re being an ass, or else they will just continue to be one their entire life. If you want to be apart of this forum, then why not introduce yourself to the actual subject, instead of telling us how immature we are all being.

Urghhhhhhhhhhh!!! I am getting so restless still I haven’t got a decision from cheme, at this moment I don’t care if I get in or not. I am fine with either decision, I just want to get this over with.

I feel the same way thedreadedwait. Though I would be so thrilled if I get it, I would much rather just be put out of my misery now if I am going to be rejected in the end.

I applied for the chemical engineering program at UF 2 semesters ago and have sent my transcript over once I finished last semester. Having said this, I have not been notified of the fact that I was accepted until 2 days ago, so everyone else who applied for chem. eng. and is worried - try to calm down, I am sure they will let you know in the next few days. Once they start to let people know, the process has begun and that means everyone will know very soon. I am so sorry that this is causing everyone so much worry, I know, because I was in the same boat until yesterday - the process has been so long!
And I have a few friends who applied to the college of Agriculture, and they haven’t heard anything yet either, so I would just give it a little bit more time. Best of luck to everyone! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!

@scgirl21 - I am not sure where I’ll be living yet, I really don’t want to live in Gainesville, so I was thinking of commuting from Jacksonville, because my best friend will be going to UNF and we both love Jacksonville, but depending on how long the drive takes us when we go to test it out, we might have to find a place to live that is between the 2 cities.

letsdrinksometea-I live and have grown up in Jacksonville and let me say that plan is absurd, the drive to from the UNF area on the Southside to Gainesville is an 1.5 to 2 hour drive on a good day and going through downtown to I-10 from the Southside at 6am-8am on a weekday add 45min-1hr to that, just isn’t gonna happen. Trust me as good of a idea as that may sound it just isn’t feasible. In fact one of the things I am mosty looking forward to in my move to Gainesville is the fact that I don’t have to drive all over this spread out city anymore. I just can’t imagine spending 3.5-5 hour per day driving, sorry if that sounds harsh but I am not sure how familar you are with the type of commute your talking about. I just don’t want you to plan for that cause IMO it would be a huge mistake.

@Johnjl - thank you so much for letting me know this! What do you think about possibly finding a spot somewhere between the 2 cities? How good of an idea would that be? I’m not familiar with the area too much, and just not too sure how many cities and places to live would be available in between.

Do yourself a favor and don’t commute. Someone I know has to commute from jax to UF and back because she works in Jacksonville and her daughter is there. She hates it because the drive, then you have to deal with finding parking, which she says can take an hour. Then it takes forever just to get out of the city due to traffic.

Also, you must not have traveled far outside Jacksonville because this city BLOWS…

I don’t know I guess tha best place if you had to would be somewhere in the Middleburg area but that is still a long drive for you and your friend about 50min-1hr. for your friend and 1.25hr-1.5hr for you. Because besides that you have very small towns like Starke between Jax and Gainesville. Jacksonville is like one big sprawling suburb and is the biggest city land-wise in the lower 48 and is very spread out, so once you leave Orange Park (Southiwest-side of Jax) and Middleburg there is a whole lot of nothing between there and Gainesville. My suggestion would be to bite the bullet and live in Gainesville and your friend live in Jacksonville close to UNF (plenty of options around there).

Did anyone apply to the Industrial and Systems Engineering program? I completed in my application in the middle of February. My application status for the last few weeks states that it has been received and is being evaluated. I don’t know anyone else who also applied for industrial and I haven’t heard anything about when they are going to start letting applicants know about acceptance!! Last time I talked to someone at the school of engineering they still had no idea!!!
I have a 3.6 in my pre-professional courses and a 3.8 overall. This doesn’t include my last two required classes for my program (Dif Eq and Physics 2 w/ calc), which I will have completed in 2 weeks.
Does anyone know if they will recalculate your GPA at the end of the spring semester if the applicant has yet to be accepted? My mother has been in the hospital the majority of this semester and I have missed over half of the lectures for my courses. While I will be able to complete all my coursework on time (and not have to receive an I) and I am afraid that my GPA will slightly suffer from this semesters grade due to the inability to attend majority of the semester (most likely Bs in my courses).
Has anyone been accepted to Industrial and Systems E? Or does anyone know someone who applied to this program for fall 2011?
I’m dying to find out and with the semester ending I am getting nervous!!
Thanks!!!

Does anyone know what I could do in this situation? I just got a few acceptances to some colleges and they want their tuition deposits soon. I e-mailed them and asked to have my tuition extended for at least a month. I find out from CALS no later than June 15th. By that time it will be too late. I’m thinking that I should call admissions and ask them to make an earlier decision, but I think that will just irritate them (possibly deny me just for me pressuring them). I don’t know if that would really be the case. It is unfair that UF releases decisions at last minute. I see several people on this thread constantly worrying (same position). I also have to take summer classes only if UF decides to accept me. I am not taking a summer class if they don’t and summer classes start soon, so I am aggravated. Hopefully we all hear from UF soon.

I’m in your same situation. I called the CALS school and spoke to one of the admissions assistants and she told me there was no way of speeding up the process and that my app was still in review. I told her I need to pay enrollment deposits by May 1st to other schools and she was very unhelpful over the phone. I don’t know what to do or who to call anymore.

Wow, I just called them and they were rude. I stated that I have tuition deposits due soon and they didn’t care. They are not even done with summer applications yet, but will be soon and they simply just said that “you’re just going to have to make that decision on your own.” Tell me about rude staff! All the other schools that I applied to are very generous and respond back to my e-mails. I guess I’m just a “number.”

I got this email today after emailing last week about when I would be able to find out my application decison, so looks likes some of us still have waiting to do:

Your application is currently under review by the college. We apologize for the delay in processing it, but is not unusual for students to hear decision as late as May since we receive such a large volume of applications.

We appreciate your patience, and I wish you the best in the application process.

Ok so I visited Gainesville last weekend and I waited (over an hour -.-) to talk to an advisor. Just to let you guys know, she told me (this is a CLAS advisor btw) that they are just starting to look over applications for fall, so it’s unusual if you’ve already heard a decision (those of you who have heard, you are very lucky :]).

I also know a girl who transfered last year and didn’t find out till May so it really is just patience :

@Lavender19 -I know what you mean with the staff being rude. There’s this particular guy at the Admissions office, his name is JK? Jacob? -has a very thick “indian” accent, maybe? And he is the king of rudeness… You ask anything and his favorite answer is: “my guess is as good as yours” and then hangs up. AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH I can’t stand him. Now, whenever I call and he answers I just hang up.
