@kttn2103 They showed us a model, the majority of the apartments in Gainesville, which we saw, which had to accept my 3 dogs, only let us look at the models. We know someone who is living there now though and they like it and said it has been no problem with maintenance , noises, bugs etc.

Yes, I did have to retake one class. So when they say no grade forgiveness, does that mean that the grade you got is it? Like there is no way to bring up your GPA at all, even if you take the course over and get an A? Wouldn’t that just mean it’s impossible to ever get your degree because they don’t forgive it at all…?

I got an e-mail from the lady who calculated my GPA, and she Completely ignored my retaken class, and just put it down as a zero. So I won’t get ANY point from that at all, even if it went from an F to an A? I really think that’s bull-crap

Yes, I was a CHS student, but I didn’t graduate with my degree because I didn’t specify what I wanted to do in time to take the courses.

Oh, I was trying to get in for Wildlife Conservation.

They should have graded it as two classes basically, the one class as a F (or whatever), and the other one as your new grade. Either way, it shouldn’t drop your GPA much.

chs? charlotte high school??? small world, I graduated from there.

@Tenteikyo, Grade Forgiveness means they calculate all your grades you have earned for that particular class and come out with an avergae grade. For example, D first time, B second time = C average. Another factor is how many prereqs you completed over those in progress. Down below is the requirements (as you may know) for your program; if you meet them after UF GPA recalculation, ask for an explanation. CALS is known for having non-impacted majors and is known to admit students who generally meet the minimum reqs (i.e., AA degree & Prereq GPA)

I’ve also had to retake a class. It was supposed to be an incomplete, but the teacher forgot and gave me an F. The retake was an A. I just ignored it because my CC offers grade forgiveness. The outcome of that would be a C??? Should I try to get it taken care of…it’s probably too late. :(

@Silvari,

Retaking a course shouldn’t hurt an applicant that bad, unless it’s in a critical tracking course for a competitive major. I know CLAS suggest passing grades on “first” attempt and avoiding W’s when possible regarding prereqs. It may be too late to remove your F since you received an A after retaking it. But if you believe the professor and dept. chair will hear you out on your case for removing that F, then go for it. Oh and yes, an A and F should average out to a C.

Good luck in your admission process!

It took 18 e-mails to get them to understand that they weren’t putting in a grade they needed to, but it finally worked.

I found out that despite the fact that I sent my transcripts multiple times to avoid them not getting my Biology grade, they still didn’t get it.

My application has been re-refered to my college, so maybe just maybe I’ll be accepted.

I advise anyone who has been denied because of their GPA to calculate it themselves and make SURE that UF calculated it right. If they did it wrong make sure you fight for them to do it right!

@lavender19

No sorry, I was referring to Collegiate High School. It’s the same as Dual Enrolled, but you stay on the college campus for all of your classes.

Sorry if this is considered spam. : (

I looked at my status yesterday night and I can’t believe it… My application was approved!

After waiting for such a long time, I was ready to give up going to UF. It was definitely a nice surprise right before the weekend!

I realize many of you are still waiting (apparently mostly CALS applicants) and my only advice would be to stay put and be patient. Admissions at UF are like God, they work in mysterious ways. One never knows what is really going on behind the curtain. But they are still accepting many people, so keep your hopes up!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

P.S. I’m an OOS student transferring into CLAS.

wow congratulations bblacky and all others who have been recently accepted! is there anyone else who is a theatre applicant? jw if anyone has been accepted there yet. man, i feel like we’ve all been waiting so long that i’m about ready to call the main admissions office and ask if i can just switch to another major haha. it’s hard to believe any of us are still waiting. this is ridiculous…

Congrats BBlacky.

In other news, I’ve completely given up hope of hearing prior to June 15th after an announcement on CALS facebook page stating:

“We are still working diligently to process admissions applications… our goal is still June 15th!”

congratulations bblackey!

dead forum again??? come on guys let’s keep on cheering those who haven’t heard yet!
Just hang on tight, the wait will be over before you know it.

btw…I’m going to check apartment this Friday, anybody knows of any complexes we should all stay out of?

I was out of town all weekend and I had this hunch…came back home last night and checked the answering machine to find that I’ve been accepted!!! Oh my gosh it was such a relief. He called on Friday afternoon and said that they were finally reviewing transfer apps that day and Monday (today) and that I’d be receiving my acceptance letter this week but he wanted to give me the heads up. I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders! :)

P.S. I am an OOS student transferring into the School of Theatre. And hang in there those of you who are still waiting!! I know you can make it GOOD LUCK!

P.P.S. funny anecdote–when I wrote my last post, I had already gotten the call from UF but just didn’t know it.

Congrats scgirl, the odds were certainly against you for being OOS and transferring in.

does anyone know what are the chances of getting in uf if you got in the waiting list?

What are your college and major? It depends a lot on that, also depends on how many people get accepted, and then not enroll because either chose another school, or change their mind, etc…

Do you know what is your place on the list? My friend is on waiting list for another university, and they told her exactly her place on the list, and told her that they will let her know if she gets admitted after the registration deadline for that school, which will be beginning of June.

Before I was admitted I called my school (architecture) and they told me that they don’t place people on waiting lists, so I don’t know if that guy was clueless or he just didn’t feel like answering any questions I might have had regarding waiting lists…

yes ido know i am number 2 on the waiting list i have been calling and she told me the deadline to accept/reject was june 6… and i know for suresomeone is not going…so i dont really know whats going on…do you know anything about the roles? does that has anything to do in being admitted?.. they placed 3 people in the waiting list…

Did anyone get accepted or denied to CALS yet who’s not a 2011 high school graduate?
