Accepted ED to Scripps, worried about being rescinded

I was accepted ED to Scripps College and until now have generally received all As except for one B each semester, and my weighted GPA is 4.3, unweighted 3.8. This semester I took more hard classes (3 AP, 2 honors) and I have 3 Bs in AP Lit, APUG, and Physics Honors as well as a C in AP Calc BC. My 5th class is an A. What are the chances that I will be rescinded?

It’s unlikely your admission offer will be rescinded. Congratulations, Scripps is a great college. Enjoy your experience there.

Thank you!

You shouldn’t be rescinded based on your fall grades, but Calc BC still has a fair amount of challenging ground to cover in the spring. Is it an option for you to switch into AB, and focus on a solid mastery of one college semester of calc rather than being shaky in a full year’s content? Scripps won’t place you based on AP tests anyway - you’ll have to take a placement test when you arrive - so your chances of placing out of Calc 1, as well as keeping your spring grades up, might be better if you could make the change to AB and concentrate on a solid foundation. (Congrats on your admission!)

I doubt you’ll be rescinded. Isn’t the unwritten rule no Ds and don’t get arrested- or something like that? I don’t see them rescinding for Bs and one C. Congrats on your acceptance!

Thank you so much! It’s a bit difficult to switch at my school to be honest, but I think it might definitely be worth a try. If there’s a placement test that’s a bit nicer too because then I can study over the summer as well.

Did your admission offer list any specific conditions about GPA or grades in your senior year courses?

Also make sure you run it by Scripps Admissions before finalizing any changes to your courseload… but I would be surprised if they didn’t support the decision if you were able to change classes.

I didn’t see anything other than the usual “no sudden plummets” kind of vague stuff on the list. I’m thinking I’ll wait until my final grades for first semester are in and then I’ll call admissions. My grades come in next week and I don’t need to commit until the 15th.
