Hi I would really appreciate it anyone could give any insight on my issue! pleaseee! I need the help!

Was anyone accepted to TCU with a cumulative GPA a little under a 3.0, but received high grades junior/ senior year?

I'm asking because my grades until recently have not been the best.

Freshman and sophmore year:
My GPA's varied somewhere between a 2.3 and 3.0 depending on how they are calculated.

Fall of Junior year:
I really messed up...I didn't pass a math class which really brought down my GPA.

If you were to average my failed math class grade, my retaken math class grade and all the rest of my academic classes I would have a:
-2.3 unweighted
-2.67 weighted

If you were to replace my retaken math class grade with my failed math class grade I would have a:
-2.6 unweighted
-3.0 weighted

...bad i know..

Spring of Junior Year:

I have a
-3.0 unweighted
-3.4 weighted

Senior year:
-3.25 unweighted
-3.75 weighted

SAT:
1670

DOES ANYONE THINK I HAVE A LEGITIMATE SHOT AT TCU?
I'm so worried that my grades are going to totally mess me up :(

Rather than relying on a stranger’s opinion, you can go to the college’s website and review the ‘Common Data Set’ where you should be able to see the average SAT/GPA for the incoming freshman and infer your odds from that. You can do this with almost any college. Remember that it’s just an ‘inference’ and just ‘odds’.

I’ve tried to find the average GPA for TCU but it’s not listed on any reliable site! (I think it’s around a 3.3)

I know my cumulative GPA is below what the university says they accept, however I’m hoping that they will overlook my low overall GPA because of my “upward trend” .

Has anyone else been in a similar situation as me ???

Okay - this took me less than a minute to find and I’ve never been to their website before -
http://www.ir.tcu.edu/zfiles/TCUCDS2008.pdf

I see they don’t indicate the average GPA for some reason but you can look at the SAT scores and see how you fare with that. It looks like the 25th percentile is 1590 and 75th percentile is 1910 so your 1670 puts you higher than a quarter of the students!

So if you’re interested in attending there you should apply but of course, make sure you apply to some other colleges as safeties as well just in case.

Outside of objective stats like these all you can get are anecdotes about individuals which may or may not apply to you so just because one person was accepted with x stats or one person rejected with y stats doesn’t mean you’d be accepted or rejected if you had those exact same stats.

okay thank you!
anyone elseeeeeeeee?

Try the follwing link to ■■■■■■■■■■. They have a nice plot of GPA vs SAT scores that show who got in and who didn’t (among those who have provided their info).
