<p>If the student makes the contact with the college and explains the situation to the college (and also explains the situation to the high school counselor) that might help. Good idea.</p>
<p>If you applied Early Decision and you're accepted, that's the place you're going to for sure, you have to tell your dad that there is no other place you can go now (did he know that you did ED?) and that he has to think long term and give you that $1000 for your education.</p>

<p>Well not everybody has the full support of their parents when they go off to college. My dad went to State U because he didn't feel like hanging out with WASP's for 4 years at an Ivy and his dad more or less never forgave him. My dad ended up working his way through college because of it, but he was a better person for it.</p>
<p>The best thing you can do is show your dad how successful you can be.</p>
