Accepted-- now to pick.

Hello, I'm new here but a friend reccommended me here. I've been accepted into all the schools I've applied to, but I have two "top" choices.

Choice 1:

Small and I believe, unknown school.
Solid psychology program.
Not in a great location.
Offering me their largest scholarship, which is about 1/2.

I did visit it and the atmosphere was really nice.

Choice 2:

Medium/large-ish.
Well-known in the communications field.
So-so location.
Offering me nothing, as of now.

I haven't visited yet, but I've been around the area a few years ago.

I really like the feel of the smaller college. What I am worried about is once again, the rep. of the communications school I got into versus the small college no one I know has heard about. Would I have a bigger leg up if I went to the more well-known school?

Blah, blah, I know people are tired of talking about prestige but that's not really what I'm getting at. I'm wondering about what will happen to be AFTER I graduate.

I believe choice 2 has a larger alumni network, while choice 1 is small and always was small. Choice 2 probably has more recruiters on campus and etc.

Any advice? I'm looking at it as "nice atmosphere & kids versus good network & strong field."

If anyone wants to know the names of the college, PM me.

It would help if you tell us the actual names of the school and what you intend to major in. Otherwise we can't really delve into specifics for you.

Yeah, why hide that? No one is tracking you down...

Weell, I wasn't hiding. I just thought that names might have clouded my question of atmosphere vs. name. But if it helps, Clark versus Syracuse (Newhouse).

I intend to major in some form of communications--journalism/marketing or psychology.

Syracuse, hands down (IMO).

If money isn't a large factor in your decision, go with Syracuse. If money IS a large factor, go with Clark and the scholarship. Either way, I think you should give Syracuse a visit before making your decision.

Really though, at this late a stage in the college selection process, you (and not strangers who've never met you, like us CCers) should be making the final decision.

I just wanted more opinions since I feel so stuck between them. :)

i would go with syracuse. there are hundreds of small virtually unknown schools. going to syracuse will definitely help u if finances are not an issue

for communications/journalism, Syracuse Newhouse School is far superior

Ha, I guessed you were talking about Syracuse even before you said. And I agree, it's a great school and very well known.

Just to throw in another opinion, I don't think Clark is "unknown" school, and if you are considering a career in Psychology, Clark is steeped in Psych history. I think once you've visited both campuses you'll have a beter feel.
