Accepted.. now what? Please help!

Alright, I was accepted into Rutgers Pharmacy about a month ago (Undergraduate Freshman), and have been just basically living off of that excitement for the past couple of weeks. I am just wondering what my responsibilities are now that the decision was made (I haven't heard back from all my colleges yet, but this is one of my top options)

I live in in-state.. I filled out my FAFSA on 2/16/11 and it was processed 2/17/11.. My EFC says 00000 (my parents are not that financially able). As far as Rutgers scholarships go, I didn't get one for Pharm but like a 3,500 a year for CAS and RU-Business. ** How much am I going to end up paying then if I decide to go to Pharm??
**
Is my FAFSA responsibilities all done? After I filled it out, it mentioned something about HESSA or something (state financial aid? I have no idea!), but it was optional.. Should I do that?

Also, do I have to do anything for housing and whatnot? (I saw a couple threads about people competing for housing or something, should I be doing that as well)?

Also, I live about an hour away from Rutgers New Brunswick.. I know that a car is probably not necessary, but would it add any additional hassle? Is there even any benefits?

Basically, what do I have to worry about and what should I be doing..? Please answer pertaining to Rutgers especially, and also for other schools too. For instance, should I be applying to any national scholarships or anything.. are there any good ones you recommend?

You will need to fill out the information for state aid. Rutgers will offer you a package that includes grants loans and work study. If you can get outside scholarships that is great too. You can call the financial aid office and they will assist you with next steps.

Freshman do not have to worry about housing. You will be randomly assigned a dorm room and roommate if you do not have a friend that you want to dorm with already. Sadly, I’m in the process of competing for dorms as a sophomore =( You can only have a car on campus if you are assigned to Livingston Campus, and this year the permit to park was $200. Its not necessary unless you are planning to go home or visit friends out of Rutgers often.

^ Use that to calculate the amount you have to pay if you don’t receive finaid.
Freshmen don’t have to worry about housing… but you still need to apply for which campus you want to live on. Try living on Busch because a lot of pharm students are there. A car is not necessary (I think you can have a car on Busch too btw) unless you plan on traveling a lot on the weekends.

[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/costs/scholarships.aspx) Here is information on scholarships.

Also check with your high school guidance office; they should have a list.

You do not need a car on campus unless you plan to work off-campus. My son’s friends who have cars have already gotten parking tickets and suffered minor accidents. You don’t need one your first year. I don’t think you need to live on Livingston to have one, but you may need to park on Livingston because there is little parking space available on Busch and College Ave.

Thanks for ALL the responses guys! Sorry for late response!

Okay, I will see what I have to do for HESSA (state aid, whatever it’s called).

When does the Rutgers FinAid package get sent around? Got accepted late January-ish, filed February 15.

I will probably not bring a car there.

What kind of jobs could I expect to get from the work-study? Just simple jobs like working at the cafeteria and stuff? (I have no idea)

When do I apply for the campus I want to be in? I would like to be in Busch as well; heard good things about it. (Or is this AFTER I make the deposit to Rutgers?)

Anyone…?

Thanks!

Keep checking your enrollment pathway to be sure your application process stays on schedule. They will alert you when the housing app is available. Apply for housing -as soon as possible-. If you apply that first day you will probably get your campus choice.

Okay, so I got my Financial Award letter a couple days ago… I’m wondering, can I sign up for housing and all of that stuff without 100% committing to Rutgers?

It’s my top choice, but I’m still waiting for some other schools in case…

Please let me know if I can make a deposit or whatever that isn’t 100% committing.

The deposit is nonrefundable. If you pay it and decide not to go, you won’t get it back. You should therefore probably wait to pay it until you are certain you will be attending.

How much is the deposit?

And is it worth making to get a good housing spot? I do not want to end up in a bad dorm or whatever… As before I want to do Pharmacy

Can anyone help with my question above?

It is 150 dollars
