accepted RD to CAS

i just got an unofficial acceptance today in the mail

why is it unofficial?

what?? what did it say? stats pls?

it was just a card saing "Congratulations! your official offer of admissions to the college of arts and sciences will be on the way to you." So i don't know whether to call it official or not...but it's basically an acceptance

GPA: 97.5 weighted, private school
rank 2/57
SAT: 800 M, 760 CR, 730 WR
SATII: 800 M2, 800 Chem, 720 Lit
12 AP exams:
5 on calc bc in 10th
5 on both physics c's and chem in 11th
3 on english 11th
taking both econs, stats, english lit, french lang, psychology, and human geography this year

haha maybe your friend made a little card as a prank. lol jk.

oh and btw pls dont tell me NYU is your top choice... you should be aiming higher.

It's my backup school; but my acceptance still makes me happy because now I can breathe easily since although it is not my top school, I still wouldn't hate to go there. My top school is either Harvard or Yale; I find out in about 3 weeks.

oh ok haha i figured it was gonna be one of those two, or MIT/princeton or something. anyway congrats and good luck on your other apps.

CONGRATULATIONS! awesome stats btw! good luck on Yale/Harvard =)

do you know if NYU does that for all applicants who are going to be accpeted? or is it only for a few people?

Thank you for your congratulations and good wishes, and good luck to all of you on NYU and any other colleges you are applying to. I have no idea whether this acceptance is for all CAS kids or a select few. I know the GSP kids got their acceptances a while ago all together so I'm not sure.

i just got a letter in the mail today too!
accepted CAS woot!!
this definitely makes me happy (:

congratulations guys~ (just a hunch: they mail these out to the best of the applicants so they can have a few weeks to actually consider NYU as a real choice, sort of like GSP kids?)

I got one too!

yeah based on mine and the most recent poster's stats, that looks like it's the case; so you other guys shouldn't worry too much, but good luck!

watchyourstep how do you report AP exam scores to NYU on their application? I self studied for a few AP tests too and got 5 on all of em but didnt see any place on the app to report those scores....

good point...come to think of it i don't think i did lol...sorry I forgot about that detail completely; but nonetheless my courseload includes all of those so the difference isn't huge

lol...would you consider "Student News" brochures and "Parent News" brochures sent to me by NYU as indication of likely acceptance? cuz i doubt NYU will send these recruitment materials to all 37000 applicants, thousands of whom will get rejected...

no, those are in no way signs of likely admittance.

quag_mire you could call up College Board and for a fee (as expected) you can deliver the scores to them electronically, a couple more dollars and it's done in 2 days. I remember for my app I put AP scholar award but I dimwittedly forgot to mention the scores (3 5's on bio/lang/apush) so in my nervous state I called up College Board and had them rush deliver the scores... I was desperate I suppose.

Congrats to those of you who have received these letters! I just replied in the 'likely letter' thread, explaining how these letters have been used in the past.

It means you're in! Best of luck to all of you who are still waiting!
