Accepted/Rejected 2010

JDBorough, unless you were deferred and they specfically requested mid-year grades, they do not ask for or want mid-year grades. It’s your end of year junior transcript that is used for admissions decisions.

If you are accepted they will require your final senior year transcript to make sure you successfully completed the schedule you put on your application.

Ok. Maybe some one can help me here. What is the recalculated UCF GPA?

I can see its the 15 core academic courses, but which are the academic electives they choose?

Meaning:
4 English
3 Math
3 Science
3 Social Science
2 F. Language
3 Academic Electives= What are these? Which electives out of all i took from high school

do they pick?

Dyme - Hmmm. I specifically asked what classes count toward the UCF GPA during an Admissions overview and was tolkd that only math, physical sciences, English, foreign languages, and history/social sciences courses are considered. Honors are weighted an additional 0.5 and APs are weighted an additional 1.0 point. Courses such as, band, creative writing, marketing management, and writing for publication would not be considered.

daddyh, thanks. I guess they don’t even look at the rest of your classes? What if you have 4 foreign languages? are those added on too? (I’m probably getting too technical so i don’t expect an answer).

@ tzais, I was deferred but they just said it is under “further evaluation with the admissions committee”. They also said “If you would like to submit additional information or test scores to improve your competitiveness and allow us to make a more immediate decision, please send additional credentials to the UCF Office of Undergraduate Admissions”. They never really specifically mentioned sending another transcript, so should I worry about sending one?

I would send another transcript JD if you have not had your 7th semester grades evaluated and they improve your GPA.

zebes

Dyme - Any Foreign Language course should be included in the UCF GPA. But please see Section C7 of [UCF - Common Data Set 2008-09](http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~irps/commondataset/commondataset08/commondataset08.html) for details of their admissions criteria. Notice that rigor of curriculum is very important - same level as GPA. So a non core course that is considered rigorous is taken into account, just not as part of their GPA.

-short explanation on essays:
** Describe an activity, interest, experience, or achievement in your life (this could be a book, a movie, or an activity or experience at work, home, or school) that has been particularly meaningful for you: I wrote about how I have grown as an individual and how sports have contributed to my personal growth (From being shy and easily discouraged to confident and willing to try new things).
**How has your family history, culture, or environment influenced who you are?: I wrote about my family ethnicity and the morals that have been instilled in me. Also the fact that my family has brought out the best in who I am, and they have also shown me what I don’t want to become.

daddyh, when such colleges say they “look” at your SAT essay…is that the essay ITSELF or the writing score?

Dyme - Sorry but I don’t know if colleges look at the SAT essay or just the score. You may want to email admissions and ask.

3.7 weighed
3.4 unweighed
3.4 cc gpa
still no word yet…:-{

how many weeks after they’ve received your transcript + SAT scores should you hear from them?

around three weeks…but it really depends

i hope to hear frm them soon because the waiting is killing me!!! lol ucf is my first choice so i got my fingers crossed!

what does this mean?! am i in or what?

An initial official transcript has been received. Please request that a final transcript be sent after completion of all courses completed prior to entering UCF to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P. O. Box 160111, Orlando, FL 32816-0111, when available.

This just means they want you to send your final grades and transcripts once you have completed all your courses; before you are able to start taking classes at UCF. They asked for the same thing on my application before I got accepted. They should let you know if you get in or not before you complete your final courses. So if your either coming in as a freshmen or transfer student they need to have your final grades and final transcripts from whatever school your coming from.

So I have no clue what this means hopefully you guys can shed some light…UCF is the only school I have applied and the only school I wish to attend.
I got this and I REALLY want to get in. I dont know what to do at this point. I applied for fall 2010 because I’m finishing with my AA in summer A at a CC can someone please tell me what this means? Good? Bad?
An admission decision is being deferred pending receipt of your transcript showing your current, in progress, semester grades. Please review the institutions listed below; a final, official, transcript must be received directly from each school. These can be sent to UCF Admissions, P O Box 160111, Orlando, FL 32816-0111.

It means that they want you to send them your first semester grades before they will make a decision. Do it asap.

ive sent them my first semester grades?

Call to make sure that they received it. You never know. I had to send in my transcript electronically about 3 times before they actually got it. Call in whenever you have questions… fast and easiest way. Best of luck!
