Accepted ucf 2010 summer students

hey just wanted to start a forum if you have been accepted to UCF summer 2010.

Read your post from the other thread, CONGRATS!!! Omg, I’m determined to apply this weekend… You don’t even need to re-take the ACT anymore, LOL! I think I’m just gonna apply for summer… I don’t want to get deferred or rejected because I applied for fall.

Accepted for Summer 2010, but prob will not be attending if accepted to FSU or Flagler. Great school though! My other D started in Summer 2009 and LOVES it!

alongwait did she think that starting in summer gave her a boost at all.

and aww thanks mizzxvii! i still think that you will be good for fall with your grades but if you wanna do summer too thats good.

yes, she really liked summer and felt completely comfortable when the fall sessions started. it was a tremendous help!

You know what, I think I’m just going to apply for summer. It’s only like 2 months before the fall semester begin, so a little head start might be good. I hope people there are nice Dx I hope I get accepted summer… You have a higher ACT ._.

who me? yea but your grades are higher than mine.

apply today mizzxvii and keep me posted!

alongwait-did your daughter get to keep the same housing she had for summer and fall?

Brandon just got in for Summer 2010-so we can start a forum

No, they house the students mostly in Nike (very nice!) for the summer. You move out and then back in around 10 days later for your fall/spring assignment (with a new set of roommates). The main dorm for freshman during the year is Lake Claire, which is an almost identical set up roomwise to Nike, but older (freshman only allowed). The Towers (a mix of everyone) is available if you want to live year round, but the contract starts in the Fall. Not sure if you can get in there starting in Summer Session. Room assignments in Lake Claire are for both fall/spring semesters though, with the same roommates throughout the year. The other dorms- Apollo/Libra etc are centrally located and offer a variety of options too, though I am not as familiar with them. Summer is a great way to start! You will not be sorry!

My daughter lived in Nike over the summer, then had to move out and move into Towers for fall. We do know two people who got Towers for the summer (we didn’t even know that freshman could get summer housing in Towers). Those two guys were assigned the SAME room for summer as for the fall/spring/summer contract so those lucky ducks didn’t have to move out at all!!!

ha ha i wish i could be as lucky and keep the same roomate. i would like to stay in nike over the summer and for the fall. i am thinking i will prob want the towers my sophmore year. i feel if i apply for towers now i will have nothing to look foward to in the upcoming year you know?

Don’t you get to choose your own roommate? What do you mean, you wish?

By the way, how does summer classes work? Do we start taking all the classes we need, full time, or what?

i think they said you get a different roomate in the summer than you got for the fall unless you live in the towers.than i think you keep your same roommate???dont quote me on that though

and summer you take 2 classes. i heard from my friend who started UNF during the summer do one academic class and one fun class. Than when fall starts you take 5 classes.

i was accepted today. im excited!

How does lake claire compare to the hercules/nike dorms? I know lake claire you get our own room- is that a better set up? My son would like to be with freshmen too- any opinions or advice

D started in the summer. At first she was a bit apprehensive but after taking 2 classes in the summer and living in a dorm in Nike, she said it was the best thing she could have done. By the time she returned early in Fall for sorority recruitment, she had a ton of friends, a familiarity of the campus and surrounding Orlando area, 2 classes under her belt, and the work-study job of her choice. Also, if you start in Summer you will select your Summer and Fall classes in May or June. Those starting in Fall were not able to select their classes until July or August.

Lake Claire is older than Nike/Hercules. D chose a regular dorm room in Summer at Nike but would have liked a kitchen, but did not want to live in Towers or Lake Claire during the summer (she wanted to be close to the pool and gym in summer). So in the Fall/Spring, she chose the 2/4 Lake Claire apartment because they accepted freshman. I believe the Nike/Hercules 2/4 apartments in Fall and Spring are only for upper classmen. Towers was just way out of her budget.

congrats flawdaboy

and gailbeth7719 i guess it just depends on wat you prefer. living by yourself and with all freshman in your building is one way to go. or you can live with all grades and a roomate. its just a preference.

i applied for fall…but i think i wanna switch to summer if i get accepted…can i do that?

Stats would be GREAT.

hey could you guys post your stats?
-thanks
