Accepted SCEA; What to tell other colleges

I was accepted to my top-choice, SCEA school a few days ago. I'm 99.9% sure I'll be accepting; I need to find out what they're offering for financial aid, but I'm assuming it will be good.

I've been working on RD apps since I turned in my early app, and I've sent in various things to all my colleges like application fee waivers and transcripts. However, I hadn't yet actually submitted the actualy Common App portion or any supplements...procrastination on my part.

Since I'm not planning on finishing applying to any, do I need to send them a letter withdrawing my application? Thanks for your help!

You don’t have to finish your application if you don’t want to apply, they’ll know then.

No withdrawal letter or notification is needed. Your application will simply be incomplete (although less scrupulous schools will claim that you applied to boost their selectivity ratios. Not your problem.)

I tend to be overcautious, but are you POSITIVE that your finacial aid will be good? You might want to finish those applications to the other schools so that you can compare financial aid packages and costs. It wouldn’t cost you anything more than time, and it gives you a Plan B if it is needed.

Congratulations on being accepted to your school! However, however good financial aid is, it could end up being less than you expected (even if it is a top school with great endowment). I would recommend you apply, even if you don’t give them particular care…just in case FA goes badly.

But that’s just a suggestion. If you decide not to apply to others, then you don’t have to let them know. Most schools won’t read the application unless it is complete.

Unless an acceptable financial aid offer comes before the applicable deadlines, complete the other applications, especially your (admissions and financial) safeties.
