Accepted Students days?

Are there any special visiting days for accepted students? I can't seem to find much info. Also, are there special events for each individual school at CMU?

If you were admitted, you should have received a big book along with your admission letter that shows a chart showing all the events going on in April.

Yea there aren’t specific days like other schools. There are specific days depending on the type of events you want to attend.

I have a quick question about all the events scheduled for each day at CMU. There seem to be many options about which event to pick for each hour, but do you have to sign up for them prior to visiting? And also, the time slots just run from hour to hour with no transition time in between. I dont get it…if you were to pick two consecutive events taking place in two different locations, how can you get there in time? Or do i just space out the events I want to go to and leave ample time to find the buildings…

Each event does not take the entire hour unless it runs late. And you might want to leave space anyways here and there to explore on your own and get lost.

And you only need to sign up online for the day you are visiting. I don’t remember if they ask what events you are going to, but there is no registration per event. If I’m wrong, someone correct me. I visited last summer, so my memory is may be corrupted by now.

You don’t have to register for any of the particular events except for TASTE (Take a Student to Eat) and of course the day itself. They give you a sticker that says “admitted student,” so basically you just show up to any of the events you want, and they’ll recognize you.

Not all of the events run the whole hour, but some of them do, especially the campus tour. We were late for a few things because we decided to go to some things back to back, but it was no big deal and other people were occasionally late too. Try to leave some space if you can though.

Are there events in May?
I am in Europe until then. =S

thank you so much seuzy13 and BlizzBlazer! That really helped :)

There’s nothing in May b/c deposits are due by May 1.

You can always visit campus- but nothing will be going on.

We start final exams first two weeks of May and then students are out of here.

Sorry to post again, but I have a question about the college overview info. sessions at the Open Campus days…Is it worth it to go to the “Director’s Welcome” or the “Carnegie Institute of Tech. Overview”/“Mellon College of Science Overview”, or should I just sit in on more classes to get the feel of the school?

Sitting in classes really doesn’t give you much of a feel of the school. It gives you the feel of one lecture of one class given by one professor.
