Dorms with a/c for freshman are Parkside International and Humanities, Fluor, and Radisson. I'm not sure if freshman can still live in Century or Parkside Apartments, but they also have a/c.

Parkside Apartments does not have AC.

Can freshman apply for Radisson?
Do Parkside apartments have AC or not?

freshman can def. apply for Radisson... i dont think that parkside has AC but i'm not sure.. then again, it'd take you a few seconds to check that

There are so many options! The only one I've ever actually been inside of is Marks Tower, which now after looking at the 360 views on the website, is considerably smaller than the others. So far I like Birnkrant (because it's near the activity of New/North, but not smack dab in the middle) and Pardee (they seem nice and roomy, and compared to other dorm styles near it...Trojan, Deans, Marks...it looks the best). I actually reeaally like Parkside...so much room compared to the dorms, and they seem newer too, but as people have pointed out before, they seem extremely removed from activity. Ah!

when i was down for explore
parkside had the fire alarm go off at 6 15 in the morning
apparently that's happened a lot this year

new building = still working out the kinks you know?

applied for north ( i think, maybe it was new) double with the sink as 1st choice

and to nave46200
i dont know if you can apply without being accepted....that seems unlikely
but you can apply before you make a final decision
the deposit isnt refundable, but then again its only $30 and thats trivial in comparison to getting a decent dorm room

I agree. You'll be thanking those $30 later on if you decide to go to USC :)

New/North? Am I out of the loop or something? Because I'm applying for housing right now and it's not one of the options. :(

they're two different dorms, even though they're the same building
im sure they're options...

just for clarification, the fire alarm went off in IRC Parkside. I dont think it has gone off once this semester in Arts and Humanities (the brand new one) this semester at least. Just don't want you to be turned off by this area.

deborahhh- They weren't options for when I applied for housing as well. I think it's because all spaces for New/North is already taken, so they took it off the list.

vienna... they are under very different names.. i have listed the variations of new/north from the housing app below...

University Residence Hall (North) - SNGL
University Residence Hall (North) - DBLE
Harris Residence Hall (North) - DBLE - WS
Harris Residence Hall (North) - SNGL
Harris Residence Hall (North) - SNGL - WS
College Residence Hall (New) - DBLE
College Residence Hall (New) - SNGL
Elizabeth Von Kleinsmid Res. Hall (New) - DBLE-WS
Elizabeth Von Kleinsmid Res. Hall (New) - SNGL-WS
Elizabeth Von Kleinsmid Res. Hall (New) - SNGL

The parenthases tell if its new or north.. and then it is either a double, single, && the WS means with a sink. HOPE THIS HELPS!! :)

Are there any buildings that alternate gender by room? From the brochure it seemed like most alternated by floor, and a couple alternated by hall, but i didn't see any that specifically said they alternate by room.

I was wondering the same. Does Coed by hall mean alternating rooms or what? Also, is that coed by hall only in north or also new as well and just not listed in the acceptance package?

Is New/North really as crazy as people say it is? So far I think I'm leaning on Birnkrant for a toned down version of New North...but if I don't get it what are some other good dorms? I heard Fluor has some nice looking swimmers haha, but don't like the fact that parkside and fluor are isolated.

Also when you get Birnkrant or whatever...is it better to go doubles or triples?

^ There's Pardee which apparently is nice too...similar to Birnkrant. Also Radisson has its advantages too (private bathroom, AC, maid service)

does anyone have anything to say about the century apartments? is that a good choice for housing? i'm thinking as putting that place as my top choice.

century was like the first housing i ruled out... it's so far away from classes and all the action, and more upperclassmen live there... i'd rather be with more kids from my year. if you like the apartment/suite style, i'd pick parkside or fluor before doing century.

The freshman I know in Century don't seem very happy, mainly because they had a hard time adjusting because they were surrounded by upperclassmen. I would recommend living in a dorm style place, since it will be the only time you will ever get to be in that type of environment.

KHans- Thanks so much!! It really does quite help :) I just wish it wasn't so confusing in the beginning.
