Accepted Students Receptions

What do people typically wear? And my parents can't attend, will I be the only one there without a parent?

I would dress casual but not sloppy. If you’re a guy, casual khakis or nice jeans and a collared shirt (like a polo shirt) would be fine. For a girl, a nice top and jeans that aren’t torn, or maybe a casual skirt or sundress (depending on weather) would be fine. At this point you’re accepted - congratulations! - so just look like you’re respectful.

I don’t think you’ll be the only person without a parent, but if you are it shouldn’t be a problem. You’re parents aren’t attending college, you are! As I recall, at the event we attended with our son, the parents mostly chatted with each other and the admissions rep who was there, and the kids went off on their own to meet each other (I think they played wiffleball at one point?) So I’m sure it’s fine to go on your own.

okay thank you so much!

My accepted D and I were there this past Monday for the Marquis Scholarship Student day, which was well attended and well planned. They had more than 40 professors between exhibit areas and lunch, plus many current Marquis Scholars sitting at the tables to discuss LC with prospective students. The dress ranged from sport coats and dress slacks to jeans and hoodies. Most everyone was dressed in better than bumming around clothes. It was an impressive group of prospects. There were students without parents, and several parents without students touring the college.
