Accepted students!

Quick question, I applied RD in October and (hopefully) looking at the official RIT admissions board on their website, I should find out soon.
I was looking through the board and it said that the application status should be on the my RIT portal page. Does anyone know specifically where? Also, do they EMAIL you as well?

Thanks!

I applied RD in November. I don't think we are going to find out until March 15th though.

Also, I go to https://futurestudent.rit.edu/ugrad to check my application status. I think they will email you an admission decision as well.

Per the posting at RIT's Admissions website on December 12, RD decisions will start going out late January / early February:

Rochester Institute of Technology Message Board

Hey guys, I just got accepted this year.

They do NOT email you. Rather, they change your "Next Step" section on your MyRIT portal.

It will go from saying "Credentials Recieved: list here"

to: "Congratulations, You've been accepted into major here" or "Sorry bad news here"

They also send the decision via snail mail.

Awesonenator- Did you apply ED or RD? When did you apply? Merit award in letter?

Congrats!

Yea, Awesonenator- Did you apply ED or RD? And when did you apply and receive a decision?

According to entries in the other thread under RIT, Awesomenator applied in late October (as ED), and decision was posted in thread on Jan 14th.

I applied in december and got my acceptance in january though I didn't receive a mail. I only received a package with my letter in it.

You applied dec and heard already? I applied all the way in Oct & haven't heard at all yet. :( Are they only accepting students with a certain GPA+ early?

Sigh

When you get your decision is definitely not based on your GPA, I applied in December and found out I was accepted on the 13th, but my GPA is pretty low.

This is their busiest time of year, so since you applied regular decision instead of early decision, they probably just put off reviewing yours until all the early decision stuff is sent out. Just because they have all your credentials doesn't mean an admissions officer has sat down to review you application in detail, just be patient, and when I visited the school I was under the impression that their admissions office was rather small compared to other schools I visited, despite being one of the bigger schools I applied too.

Hey guys,

Sorry it's been so long. I've been pretty busy the past couple of days.

Anyways...

The Admissions committee said that the more competitive majors will take longer to make a decision for.

So, despite when the person applied, their decision timeline will be based heavily on their major of choice.

As for the other questions, Yes I recieved a Merit Scholarship (which I just recieved yesterday, Mail is slow because weather is bad up in NY.)

I DID apply ED, on Oct 30, and still recieved my decision on Jan 14 on the website. The letter didn't come for another week.

Good Luck everyone!

Also, in my interview, I was told that they do put of regular decision applications until all early decision applications are reviewed.

Regular decisions should be going out in early Feb.

w00t! I got in with 12k scholarship!

Congrats on the great news, ansh!!

What college were you accepted into? Was it posted on the web site or did you find out by snail mail?

ansh, did you apply RD or ED? :O

ansh-
What are your stats? (Hoping for merit award here.)

Was your merit award posted or mailed with your acceptance letter?

Accepted today! I've been accepted into the Information Technology program!

yeah i got accepted as well. i don't know how long the site said i was accepted (international business program), but i found out today. i applied RD in late december.

i got accepted today too, for the comp sci program.

however, if i wanted to choose my 2nd choice major instead of my 1st choice (since you choose 3 programs when you apply), could i do that when i pay the acceptance deposit? or do i need to wait until the school year starts to switch my major?

clannad, congratulations on being accepted!!

As some of the more popular majors (like game design) "fill up" I would call the admissions office and speak to them about your desire to switch to another major.
