Accepted Thread

i am Jewish and checked Jewish... will this help me in admissions at all? diversity? i dunno will it, sorry jw bc the subject came up.

I got my acceptance last week and I have do not associate myself with any religious background although I do believe in a higher power. Luckily this isn't Pepperdine and they don't heavily weigh in religion as a factor I believe. I got accepted in the Business school :D Now I have senioritis like no other

Chinaski, thanks for the info. New Jersey to California, that definitely is a trip!

collegehopeful21, congrats! Tell me about it, I had senioritis 1 month into this school year.

I put down Roman Catholic as my religion.

I attend an Augustinian-run high school and wrote my essay about how I can apply the philosophies of Augustinian teachings to the Jesuit education LMU offers.

When I visited LMU, it did not feel like an overly religious campus other than the fact the president of the school was a Father in the Church. Pepperdine actually turned me off because of its overly religious atmosphere. I'm not anti-religion, but it's college and I like when I am opened up to other philosophies.

Bottom line, I don't think LMU will judge you on your religion. It's YOUR religion and if you're a true follower then you won't worry about them judging you differently because you checked off the "Jewish" or "Baptist" box.

any comments on post #61 above, sorry i dunno if you just answered it but jw

hahah hi anisha!! XP

anyway. um. does LMU superscore SAT scores?

and how hard is getting in the film school anyway?

I applied early notification...and they want to see my first semester grades before they decide. So I guess I was deferred. Oh well, it would be nice to get in, but I have already gotten into my #1 (Indiana University). But just in case I prefer location and weather to everything else, I want LMU as an option.

HOLA RENA

Wait SoCal18...how did they notify you? Paper? Online?

Ugh I sent everything in on the first and I have heard NOTHING from them. BTW I'm in NorCal... should i be worried?

and i applied early

I am in the exact same situation as you, icierair. I'm a NorCal kid who turned in the app on Oct 31 via Early Notification.

I don't think we should worry..we still have 8 days. We should start worrying after the 20th.

I think it's because rolling admissions is first come first serve. I turned in my application and everything on October 31st, so I think I will be one of the last people to be evaluated.

i got my acceptance letter by mail, LMU doesn't due online notification unfortunately.. I know annoying. Also I turned my application in on like either the 30th or 31st of October and I got my letter last Thursday. I thought I'd get it way later though. I think it depends all on when your application was fully processed. Good luck all!

I called them to check my admission status. They said a letter would be in the mail within a few days explaining what they want.

Got acceptance on Thursday the 13th. Definitely got in based off my EC's, as my UW GPA and ACT scores are low(3.5 and 28)

Deferred :(

any tips on what to do now?

Don't be sad, icierair! I think there's a thread somewhere on CC saying how deferral doesn't necessarily mean rejection and how a surprisingly large amount of deferred applicants are admitted in the long run. It's just more torture, I suppose.

If you do dance or play a sport or an instrument, you should include a tape or a DVD. I think if I get deferred, I will video tape my rounds at my next debate tournament and send it in.

anisha08, I have to say that you are one of the nicest young people posting on CC. You do not yet even know your own fate, and yet, you are always congratulating the others and encouraging those who are still waiting. I hope that you get into the school of your dreams. (The video of your debate would be an excellent thing to send in. What a great idea!)

Wow thanks, Adultparentmom! :) I really appreciate your encouragement. I just get really happy for other people, I guess. Hehe.

I'm really scared I'm going to get rejected..and LMU was supposed to be my safety school. I applied early notification and i STILL haven't heard from them =( I have a 3.7 UW 3.9 W gpa and my SAT is 1880 but i have a lot of EC's..i wonder whats going to happen.

Hi! Just browsing through this thread...I have 2 kids at LMU. One a senior, and one a sophomore. My D with the higher GPA was deferred and then accepted in March, and my S never heard anything until March, when he was finally accepted. LMU definitely wants you to send in your midsemester grades, so order your transcript early enough so that it can go out as soon as your grades come in. They will not decide for RD applicants until they see those grades.
My third child applied Early Notification and was deferred. However she was accepted at her first choice school so it doesn't really matter.
Those of you who got in-you will absolutely LOVE Loyola Marymount.
Cheers!

PS. We are Jewish and it didn't hurt our chances.

Hope2bELONmom, please tell us the "why" LMU! What will we LOVE about it? What about housing after the sophomore year? (That is my main concern. Where do they live when the dorms are not an option?) We know someone who used to teach there and he says it is a great school, too. Thanks.
