did anyone else here apply around nov. 1 (when i did) and is just now hearing back, or knows someone in my situation who hasnt heard back yet? i feel like almost 5 months is a little rediculous to be waiting..haha

I haven't heard back either... It's probably because out sat scores are low??

mm what are your scores? my sat was 1920 but act was good, 30
i know people with lower scores who have gotten in already though

Ah never mind lol 1920 is not low, i have a 1500 sat/23 act. Everyone I know that hasn't gotten responses back have 1500/1600 SATs.

What major did you apply to? I applied for env. science, but I don't know anyone that applied for that major yet..

i said business administration or communications, i havent really narrowed it down yet cause im also interested in poly sci and french haha
how popular is envi sci? i know people that are really into that stuff but they are going to like western and whitman and stuff

Found out I got accepted today. OOS, 3.2 GPA, 2270 SAT. Still waiting to hear from Georgetown, but that is looking very unlikely, so I"ll probably be a Husky next year.

Congratulations, gestes09!

Welcome to the accepted thread!

Got in a few days ago... phew, what a relief. I was getting worried there for a second.
CONGRATS (with an applause) TO EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! We are pleased to offer you admission to the University of Washington Seattle. A complete packet of information about admission and enrollment is mailed approximately 5 - 10 days from the date your admission status was updated in our data base. Please allow sufficient time for the mail to reach you, especially if you live out of state or out of the country.

Anyone here if UW gave out financial aid amounts yet?

If you are OOS and not in the honors college you will probably get NO financial aid this year, UW made the decision this year that they would accept more people over giving out money.

Probably?

It's more like definitely, lol.

Ah, the plight of us out of staters...

Accepted to UW Seattle!

I'm kinda torn between University of Washington and Western Washington University. I'm thinking that since the latter is a smaller university, it may be more under-grad friendly. I'm gonna wait til mid-April to decide. Either way, flying from London to washington state is gonna be awesome!

^ wow are you an international student? Thats cool

no i was born and raised abroad as an american citizen, since my dad's with the diplomatic corps. technically i'm from washington state (despite being born in scotland), so i applied to the two best public uni's (UW and WWU) to take advantage of the in-state tuition. i've been in london for four years now, and this will be my last move after a lifetime of moving =P

again though, i'm completely torn between UW and WWU... and i dunno which to choose. UW's huge size and dorms are definitely the cons, whereas WWU's isolated location and lack of financial / internship / graduate support are their cons. is there anybody out there in the same situation? otherwise, i think i'll start a new thread :)

Honestly, I don't know who in their right mind would choose WWU over UW...

^
Depends on the programs you're looking for.
Okay, well, that was a friend's excuse for not applying to UW. (I don't really know WHAT she was looking for...) She pretty much set her mind on WWU from the beginning.

But, I agree with littlelisa. I know some people who were accepted to WWU and rejected by UW, and pretty much all of them would choose UW if they could.

yeah, well there aren't many people you can talk to about US public universities when you come from a high-achieving private school in the UK. seriously, there aren't. it may be painfully obvious to some people, but atm, all i know are that UW is bigger and has more prestige than WWU, the dorms at UW are crappy for the most part and it's easy to get lost at UW. it's not like i'm asking for someone to hold my hand throughout the 4 years, but don't UW undergrads find themselves overwhelmed by the super large lecture halls and stuff?

I think all undergrads are overwhelmed by any university when you first get there, it just takes some time to adjust and get used to it. It's up to you how you make of it. My friend goes to WWU and she likes it for the most part, but every time she goes to UW to visit her friends, she always writes in her facebook "I don't want to go back..."

Oh, and I don't think the dorms are "crappy." I visited the one all the freshmen go to (lander) and was pretty pleased with it. But as I said before, it's what you make of it.

Make no mistake, the dorms at UW are definitely crappy. Lander and Terry are the newer exceptions to the rule.

Anyways, after you get past the intro classes, the classes should shrink soon enough. The more major-specific classes will have less people in them; junior and senior year will be fun.

Oh yeah.

I forgot my stats:

GPA: 3.8 or 3.9, idk
SAT: 2330

Other random crap: tons of running start credit

Okay, now I’m bored.
