Hey guys there's probably some post like this somewhere but I'm not sure where to look for it so simple Q, if you applied to Brown, did you get in? Regardless, please post your stats, it would really help me see what kind of people get into Brown. thanks!

Look in this forum:

yeah I applied and got in, though this was a few years ago so its probably harder now

1600 SAT I (combined best scores, otherwise 1560), 790/770/770 Math 2C Chem and Writing

Ranked 3rd/ 400 from really bad public school in PA

EC's: Main achievement was appearing on CNN and then CSPAN regarding co-organizing George Bush/Dick Cheney stump speeches in my area (I regret this and dislike them both a great deal), journalism stuff, debate, bunch if prizes in FBLA and Science olympiad

Essay: On a news story I wrote about a chicks house flooding and subsequent town response to it, titled "A Town Washes Away Tears"

Why I Like Brown Essay: Don't spend too much time on Open Curriculum, everyone talks about this but touch briefly on it, talk about the culture of intellectual inquiry of something like that and how you'll contribute, be specific and refer to high school activities and how you'll change those EC's into participation in organizations at Brown. I wrote about how I would participate in the school paper and start a libertarian organization on campus.

Interview: Make sure you utilize your accomplishments in every answer you give - I don't think my interview went as well as it was my first one, but I guess it didn't matter.

Btw, I didn't go there, but I did visit in case you have any questions about my perceptions of the student body

^thethoughtprocess, i'm curious as to where you ended up going.

"from really bad public school in PA"
