Accepted to CIT can I take classes outside of CIT though?

I was accepted to CIT to be a freshman next year. My interests aren't only in CIT, I was wondering how CMU is with taking classes and perhaps minoring in a school you have not been admitted to?

Yeah all of that is possible. For instance you could minor in computer science.

Is there an application process for something like that?

I don’t think so. I believe that you can take pretty much any class you want unless there isn’t room for you.

sweet thanks!

There are a few restricted classes (some of the drama stuff comes to mind), but most stuff is totally open to you as long as there’s room in the class. I have taken 2 semesters worth of Chinese classes in H&SS, for example.

Oh so, if I wanted to take a language I would be able to? (btw I’m a Chemistry major)

Definitely. I’m a MechE and I’ve taken 2 semesters of Chinese. It’s easy as long as you have room in your schedule!
