Accepted to Harvard RD with 1 ap exam score

I just thought this was interesting and wanted to share it.

A white male from CA, no legacy, no other hooks:

-Took 1 ap exam in 10th grade and got a 5
-Skipped 11th grade because he had enough credits
-Took 3 ap's senior year

"Competitive" students at this school take 2 ap's in 10th, 4 in 11th, 4-5 in 12th.

This was the only student accepted to Harvard within the general region of my high school(about 6 large schools).

Sounds like he was a special kid. Applicants are so much more than their stats. Harvard, which can be really choosy, saw something that interested them in him.

A super smart kid in my school about three years ago had enough credits and graduated as a junior and was accepted into Princeton.

We always get half the story in these posts.

What else would you want to know? His SAT was on the lower side of the 2200’s and his SAT subject tests were mid/upper 700’s.

The only thing this may prove is that schools look for course rigor in context. If the school didn’t offer very many APs to begin with, of course Harvard can’t penalize one for not taking 10+ APs.

Val at my school got into princeton with a 3 in USH but he was urm with 2150+ so its what the school needs to fill certain spots in its class. I am 100% there was some URM with more AP tests and prob better sat score that they rejected because there’s a top 50 us school right next to us with an average sat of 1900-2000.
