Accepted to Notre Dame, but deferred from UMich...WHAT?!?!?!?!

Duke and UMich are in my top 3. I was deferred from both.
Notre Dame isn't that high on my list. I was accepted.

I'm out-of-state but I have a 34 ACT and good credentials. I worked soooo hard on my UMich supplement. Definitely spent more time on it than on my ND supplement. I wanted UMich soooo much more. I also demonstrated interest. I don't understand why this happened. The college counselors at my school thought I had a GREAT shot at UMich. It just sucks. I also have no info on what percent of deferred applicants get in. I don't know what to do.

Umich has said they’re going to likely admit less students this year and would probably be pretty conservative with their EA admits. Hopefully that means they’ll admit some of the defers still. If you think you really want to enroll at umich I’d make sure you do well with your senior grades and send them an updated transcript after the semester. It wouldnt hurt to write their admissions rep for your high school and let them know you’re still interested.
