Accepted to the Creative Leaders Program. Anyone know what this is?

Hi guys! I’m really excited to have been accepted to Northeastern EA to CAMD with an intended major in journalism. I sent in an optional portfolio as part of my application, with samples of newspapers articles and an essay on why I love journalism. Today in the mail I received a letter from CAMD telling me I’ve been accepted into the Creative Leaders Program “an elite program for the most visionary, talented, and entrepreneurial students in the college.” I’ve found a little bit on the Northeastern website about what it is, but nothing substantial. Does anyone know anything more? Also, is it instead of the honors program? I wasn’t accepted into the honors program, but I did receive a merit scholarship of 14k a year and I was a little surprised that Northeastern would give me significant merit, but not accept me into honors. Any insight would be much appreciated, thank you!

I do not know about the program, but I googled it and actually found a lot of information (http://www.northeastern.edu/camd/academics/undergraduate/creative-leaders/)

To me, it does not appear to be in lieu of the honors program. It looks like a seperate CAMD program. They mention “honors” that you can earn through that program, but I believe that is just referring to distinctions that they put on your diploma after graduation.

Regarding merit aid and the honors program, unfortunately your situation is fairly common. Honors admission is a step above merit aid, and there are many students on half (or more) tuition scholarships who have not been accepted into the honors program. Admissions can always be weird (not just a northeastern thing, that’s everywhere), and some of the smartest people I know at this school are non-honors.

@julianstanley Thank you very much for your reply! Disappointing about the honors program, but I guess college admissions can be as skewed as everyone says.
