Does anyone know how long it takes for them to receive your transcripts? I had my CC send them in on the 23rd of March and it still says on my portal it’s required. I also emailed admissions two days ago and still no response D:
@Brandb79 It depends on your school, did they send it electronically? The local CCs in San Diego send them electronically to SDSU. Two of three of my transcripts were received the same day. The other sends out transcripts to SDSU twice a week and that took about three business days.
@Brandb79 I’m a little confused on this as well. I sent out transcript requests to some San Jose CCs and received emails saying that they had been sent and received electronically by SDSU. Those haven’t been cleared yet on webportal, but the ones from Miramar that I requested last night are already in the system. I’m thinking that local community colleges are automatic while those from outside the area are screened and double checked.
I’m going to call tomorrow and see what’s up.
@Impatient1 I believe you’re correct. I sent State both of my college transcripts electronically March 30 (one from SDCCD and the other from MiraCosta). I noticed the next day that my transcript from SDCCD cleared from my web portal, but my MiraCosta transcript still displayed “required.” I went to admissions over spring break and they told me to wait a week since I just sent them over. When I mentioned that one of my transcripts was already processed by them – they said that that was abnormal but to consider that transcript “lucky.” I called admissions again today and the person who answered the phone told me that it normally takes 2-4 weeks. I mentioned the May 1 deadline and they said that they’d get it done by then.
I looked at what classes I’d need with mymap, and what was required for my major, then I choose the classes I wanted to fill the requirement. For example, I’m an Art History major, I need two major classes, that are specified, and 7 major electives. I can choose any 7 out of a list of 20 or so. Looking into the 9 I thought looked interesting, I checked the course schedule and one wasn’t offered at all, the others seemed to alternate semesters.
I really wanted to take Renaissance art last semester, but it conflicted with the time my nephew got out of school, and my husband was enrolled in a major class at the same time. I figured I’d take it this fall…
This semester came along and two of my classes were in the same time slot. I looked at the course calendar for the last few years, and realized one is offered every spring, the other only every other spring. You can go back in the schedule at least a few years. Saved me from missing out on Baroque/Rococo(which is an area I may focus on) for a class I could take next year. I’m saving my upper division electives for the last semester, so I don’t have to worry about scheduling conflicts making me miss necessary classes and delaying graduation.
Sorry this is so long, I just want to be thorough.
I just sent out my transcripts and AP scores, though Im still waiting to hear from UCR, I’m about 80% comitted to SDSU
So some news I’d thought I’d share, today at City College we had an admissions counselor from SDSU come in and explain the enrollment process in detail and answer any questions that one may have about enrollment. One question that many people I’ve seen in this forum ask was, “What happens if my GPA drops because of classes I am currently taking now?” Her name is Nancy, and she is the transfer admissions counselor at SDSU, she said that could definitely confirm that as long as you meet your major requirement GPA and minimum major grade requirement (for example, some major prereqs require that you get a C or better), you will be okay.
For example: If your major requirement is a 3.0, you have a current 3.5 GPA and get a C in one or more of your classes, as long as your GPA does not fall below the 3.0, you will be okay. One caveat she wanted to make clear is that each department has minimum grade requirements. So if you get a D and the minimum is a C, your admission could be rescinded.
@ieatsushi Wow that totally makes so much more sense! The thing that throws most of us off is the line, “You must maintain your reported overall GPA” and it makes people think that if their GPA falls below what they reported on their applications, that their admission will be rescinded. Good to know that it means they must have a C or better in a given course and that their GPA cannot fall below their MAJOR’S minimum GPA requirement. Thank you for clearing that up! So helpful.
Does anyone happen to know if SDSU refunds the intent to enroll fee if they decide to withdraw their acceptance offer?
One of the pre-reqs I’m taking is harder than I thought. =\ I might have to re-take it again, and try for SDSU next year. I don’t want to pay the $400 if it’s non-refundable under any circumstances. Any info would be greatly appreciated! =)
I believe if you pay the enrollment deposit and then withdraw, you lose that deposit. I would call to make sure.
Hey everyone,
So I was rejected to transfer from Mesa community college to SDSU for fall 2015 for business admin with a 3.67, I was also one of the people that found out on April 1 and was hoping it was a joke. But, I appealed it and just now found out that I got accepted! I’m wondering though does anyone know anyone whose admission from an appeal was rescinded because their gpa dipped as a result from spring semester? In their admission letters, SDSU says that it will be rescinded if you do not maintain your GPA. I just talked to someone from the office of admissions and she said that it is uncommon for SDSU to rescind unless it is a huge dip, “like a 3.8 to a 2.0” is what she said. My cumulative went from a 3.67 to a 3.5, not a huge deal but still I’m worried because its almost July and it would be horrible to start putting all efforts forward to move back to SD from NorCal and find housing etc then have my admission revoked. So does anyone know a friend who had their admission taken away, or anyone who didn’t have it taken away despite a drop in GPA? Any input helps!
Thanks!
@chey1234 Congrats! And I don’t believe that you should have any worries. Typically, they just want you to retain your GPA above the required, which I believe for business is a 3.1. And from what admissions stated a “3.8 to a 2.0” definitely means you failed some classes, so as long as you didn’t fail any than you should be fine.
