Accepted!!!!!

I logged onto my MYCU Boulder account today to find that I got into the aerospace program! Not sure why my admission decision came out before December 2nd, but never-the-less i'm in!!

Anyone else find out yet?

Congrats. As I am sure you know, aerospace is a top-notch program. My D graduates in 2 weeks with a Physics degree (but isn’t going anywhere - there is skiing to be done). CU isn’t perfect but overall I think she had a good-to-excellent experience.

And now you get to see Pac10 (12) football.

Congrats to you too! My son is a freshman aerospace engineering major also and really enjoying it. I think the department is top notch and he has already been exposed to a lot of future opportunities in that department. Excellent undergraduate advisor there as well. Of course he loves the snowboarding as well. If you end up deciding to attend, ask me any questions. I will be more than happy to answer them.

so you’re kids are actually “rocket scientists”??? You must be very proud! I’d love to be at a cocktail party and say, “My son is a rocket scientist”

What’s the word on the Leeds School of business? We’re on the east Coast and although UCB’s one of the few schools that kids actually go west for, there’s still not a tremendous amount of buzz.

Rousse-You are so right about the Admissions staff being helpful! It’s the day before EA closes and they have responded to each of my son’s requests as well as our school’s questions. It’s horrible when something goes array last minute for your child’s top school (especially when everything was sent so darn early) But they responded like he was their only applicant-it bodes very well indeed!

I think it speaks highly of them that every time you call them, a real person answers the phone and they actually take the time to help you and answer your questions. You do not get an answering machine or some person who does not know what they are doing.
I do not know anything about the Leeds School of Business, except to say the building that houses that school is very impressive and interesting from an architectural standpoint. Have you visited the campus? If so, you must have seen it.
Where are you from back east? I am originally from New Jersey but have lived in California for a long time now…
Good luck to your son!

Gosh, a whole bunch of New Jerseans movins to Cali but lovin Colorado. We’re from Jersey, northern-ish, right outside the city. Last year 11 kids applied to UCB, I think 3 went. That’s alot! Husband and son went to visit but I don’t think the kid took it too seriously… phone conversation
Me: How was your tour of Colorado?
Him: Same old same old, Slide show, walking tour, libary, green patch with trees…can we come home I’m missing the whole weekend?
Now that he’s starting to get accepted at schools he’s kinda like…“we gonna go back and visit Boulder and Ft Collins?”

Funny! I am from Dumont, in Bergen County, ever heard of it? But I have lived in Los Angeles since I graduated from college. Actually, the greatest number of out of state students that attend CU come from California, but NJ is like in the top five, so plenty of NJ students come to Boulder! I think it is a spectacularly beautiful campus, but my son doesn’t really appreciate that aspect of it. When we first went on the tour, he and my husband did not like the uniform red roofs on all of the buildings. I said it would look great with snow on top. Now that he is there, he kinda likes the red roofs. My son is happy at CU. He has made friends, played two intramural sports so far with his dorm mates, gone snowboarding, gone to concerts, goes to football games and now basketball games, and pledged to a coed engineering fraternity. So all is good with him. And he is doing great academically. He just was home for over a week since they get a whole week at Thanksgiving which is really nice. And Boulder is a nice town, easy to get around for the students with free bus passes.

Good to know I won’t be the only person out there from New Jersey

Congrats. Our D graduated from CU-Boulder last May, and our S is a junior there now (biochemistry major). We’re locals (live 1 1/2 hours from campus) and have been very happy with our kids’ educations and overall experiences. Good luck, hope you enjoy your time here.</p>

P.S. Forgot to add - our son’s roommate and fraternity brother is from Princeton, New Jersey. He has several friends/acquaintances from that area that attend CU as well. So you definitely won’t be alone. :)

We are in state and he is guaranteed admission to CU. He knows the Aero program is competative but only got his app in last night 3 hours before the EA deadline. If he doesn’t get in, I hope he will have learned a lesson about procrastination.

Garden State Representinnnnnnn

where in NJ is everyone from?

Got accepted last night. CA resident, accepted to Leeds Business School.

:) Best of luck to everyone else that’s waiting!

My daughter accepted last night - Theatre major. Also from California. She is very excited!

Congratulations to your daughter, Bruin Alum, and to samsam9393. I am from California also and went to UCLA for graduate school and my husband was an All-American wrestler at UCLA. So we are Bruins true and true. My son got admitted to UCLA last year but elected to instead go to CU. If you have any questions about the campus, as away!

“Congratulations! You have been admitted. A letter with specifics is being mailed to you.” Yet another CA girl accepted to CU! My daughter received the admit notice on mycuboulder this afternoon.

Congrats!
Johnny D!!!

Thanks Rousse54! Both of our children wanted to go out of state. The Colorado weather will certainly be a change of pace!

Bruin Alum: I think they will like the change of pace in the weather. My son is fine with the cold, and loves to snowboard so if your daughter likes to ski or snowboard, she will have a lot of fun. Otherwise, Boulder is a great place for hiking, bicycling, running, so many outdoor activities. And Denver is an easy free bus ride away…Congratulations again!

How long do you think it should take to get the acceptance letter in the mail?
