@Dhg712 makes me feel better! Have been waiting anxiously since early December!
Waitlisted
IMO, that message " very carefully considered…" Is a bad sign, because after getting this message I was deferred and now I am seeing peeps with this mssg getting wait listed…!
@darkknight15 if you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats
I applied RD in November. Do you think I’ll get my decision on the 31st like the site said?
@mnick56 28 ACT 3.4 GPA. 3 varsity sports, job during much of high school
@darkknight15 I have the same exact stats as you! If you dont mind me asking, what day did you apply? And what race are you
Waitlisted
3.6 UW GPA and 30 ACT
If you don’t mind me asking, what school did you apply to?
CSE
I haven’t heard anything back yet and I’m going crazy. I’m sorry you were waitlisted – waiting really is this worst part of this whole thing.
Son still waiting; was deferred initially. There is randomness to this process and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Haven’t heard anything yet but can we appeal rejection??
You can appeal a denial, however unless you have some really impressive new information to add its not likely you’ll be successful.
An application would typically be seen by three admissions committee members who meet as part of a larger group to go through dozens of applications at a time if not more. If your application was seen by someone hostile to your application (for whatever reason) you can end up in the reject pile even if the other two reviewers were enthusiastic. That said, they are unlikely to reverse a decision, which would involve admitting that a reviewer was out of line with his/her review. Also, admissions committees do not want the curtains pulled back on the holistic admissions process. Its an abomination.
Plenty of great schools out there; its Minnesota’s loss if you don’t get in, not yours.
Has anyone heard anything?
@aerogeek Seems like they are only communicating to those who have been waitlisted at this point. I’ve only seen one post about a denial so far and I’m not sure if any deffered students have been accepted yet.
Do you think this wait means a rejection is headed for those who haven’t heard back yet?
Nobody who was deferred has really been denied OR accepted yet - they won’t deny us all.
@aerogeek ^^^ If your stats are on the higher end it’s probably good that you haven’t heard back yet.
