SOOO excited to be admitted! Go Gophs!
Any recent admission to CSE? Son applied 10/6 , in-state and no change in status.
Just saw CSE admission post from WishYouWereACat, congrats to your daughter!
My son applied in the first week of August and status still states application is complete and admission decisions will be made starting from October 1st onwards. He is a US CItizen living in India currently.
@uscitizenindia I applied in the mid of August and haven’t received a decision either.
@uscitizenindia , call admissions office to get status. Have you or your son applied using the right link for application submission?
check this web site https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/international/index.html .
Tracker will have most current status of application. Admissions can’t give you more updated info. than what’s on the Tracker.
UMN rolls out its decisions over several months but not necessarily in order you applied so don’t get hung up if you are still waiting while others have been accepted (some having applied after you!). There are many reasons for the discrepancy: They tend to admit by college beginning with the very strongest “slam dunk” applications first and work their way down from there. CSE always seems to get their decisions earliest, for instance. They may admit all the OOS students from one region before another, or domestic students before internationals. It’s hard to understand the method to the madness. Just understand that your decision will arrive before the decision deadline . . . hopefully WELL before!
Child applied on 10/8 to CSE and notification from UMN that applicationn complete on 10//16. He was just offered admission on 10/28. In-state. ACT 30. Many ECs and high class rank and GPA.
@JBStillFlying , that may be true in most cases. In our case, though high school transcripts were submitted via commonapp, the UMTC admissions office could not find them initially and had to work with their IT support to get it fixed. The admissions office initiated the IT support following our call to the admissions office.
Calling admissions office would let @uscitizenindia know whether his son’s application is being treated as domestic freshmen application or international application or any other issue with application, or possibilities you suggested.
@thishappens - yikes! You pray that those glitches don’t happen but of course on occasion they do.
You are spot on - when the Tracker says something hasn’t been received and you know that it has - that’s worth a call to Admissions. I should have been more clear - the post was meant to address the concern that earlier applications haven’t been decided yet and does that mean there is a problem. As long as the application says “complete” on the tracker, you are most likely fine and just need to wait - but if there is any confusion about the citizenship status it might be a good idea to double check. And if it turns out there IS a problem, that’s a major fail across many areas so hopefully that ISN’T the case.
Thanks everyone. The applicant tracker says all required documents have been received and the application is complete. I called the admissions office and they told me that all documents have been received and admission decisions will be made before January…guess we have to wait at this point patiently
