Received the acceptance letter over the weekend. :)

Yeah I got accepted!! The theory that high scores are getting accepted first is not necessarily true. I?m soooo happy. There?s hope for all people.

GPA piggie?

Rochester only "considers" test scores, as cited from collegeboard.

I just called admissions. Here's how it works:

They send out RD decisions weekly, in "batches," in no particular order, from late February up until the first week in April. Some of us could be doing quite a bit of waiting...:(

going back to the early write discussion, colleges do send certain students their regular decisions a little earlier to entice them to go, i kno that this is true because i got my acceptance to georgia tech earlier than most other people and i had a good hook

Ahh!

I can't wait anymore, this is killing me. I wish they posted decision online so I would at least know.

HeavenWood, thank you! It's so funny that for all the time I spend online and e-mailing people, I never think to just pick up the phone! :D

this is making my son nuts. He got the bausch and lomb award last year and still hasn't heard anything. and he found out yesterday that someone from his school with lower grades then him has already gotten their acceptance letter. This sending out letters in waves is not good for one's mental health.

That it is not...especially since your son (and I) could wait until April!

So are they sending them out every Wednesday? It seems that last week the first people received them on Thursday. So can people expect to receive them at the end of each week or is it a random thing?

Oh wow I just got home and still didn't recieve anything. I seriously don't think I can take this any longer? Anyone else still in the boat waiting to dock at the University of Rochester? haha

^ yeah this is driving me up the wall

still waitin

solsek.. my gpa is uw 3.7 w 3.9

Not necessarily, admanrich. They just said "we send them out in batches once a week." By that, I assume they would do it on Monday, but your guess is as good as mine.

In batches? Oh lordy.

I don't think I'll ever get mine!

okay well this is going to be my mathematical reasoning attempt to make you all feel a little better...
i'm not sure about the RD apps, but i know that for ED apps, each application is read 5 times by 5 separate readers. my mom spoke to the admissions office a few weeks ago and they said that they had 12,000+ apps this year. so let's just guess 12,500. multiply that times 5. divide it by the number of admissions staff. whatever you get from that is the number of reads each admissions person has to do. now divide that by however many weeks it's been since jan 15 (the RD) deadline through april 1. i would go crazy if i had to read that many applications in a such a relatively short amount of time... wouldn't you?
so have some sympathy for the admissions staff... i'm sure they're just as anxious as you all are to see who will be in the class of 2011, but it takes time and patience. lots of patience.

Hey I got accepted, got the letter thru fedex!! Im really happy, hope all you guys get your letters soon.

offered scholarship of 10k, but its still way too costly considering intl fees. do i have a chance if i ask for an increase in scholarship?

Perhaps you didn't apply in time for the recommended scholarship deadline?

Did you apply for fin. aid? If you're lower to middle class, they're relatively generous.

so what subjects did you guys apply for? i applied for molecular genetics. anyone else the same?
