when your status says “your app is complete blah blah” then changes to “your being very carefully considered” do you think its possible they already made the decision…or they make the decision within the 7 day time period?

and is it likely that they would send out waitlists now or possibly rejections? it seems like the majority of rejections a waitlist came from feb 21-march 3…you guys still think their accepting applicants? or do they go by who turned their app in first? or is their like and entire pile of rejections because i haven’t heard of any rejections so I’m guessing they send them out all at once?

others have said if your status changes to “being very carefully considered” they most likely admitted you but don’t change the status until you receive the letter because i guess the letter is more exciting?

MOST IMPORTANTLY! how many of you guys think they make the decision after or before the “very carefully considered” status

sowhat456…Based on the timeline between app tracker status change and acceptance letter arriving (generally been about 7 days) I would guess the decision gets made and then the status change appears. I didn’t check the postmark on D1’s acceptance letter, but I wouldn’t think it takes 7 days for a letter to get from Minnesota to Michigan. Also, in our case I was talking with Admissions and found out over the phone that D1 was accepted and her status changed later that morning. I don’t know if that’s the case for everyone, but at least in our case the decision was made before the status change showed up online.

sowhat - Son’s status changed to “very carefully considered” on Friday, Feb. 4. The acceptance letter is dated Feb. 7. It arrived on Feb. 11, and the status changed to “congratulations!” on Feb. 12.

sowhat456…At least in D1’s case, they had a decision made before her App Tracker status update. The only reason we were aware of it is because we happened to be on the phone with admissions asking a different question, and they informed us that she had been accepted. Later on that day her App Tracker updated to “being carefully considered” and her letter arrived in the mail about a week later.

hey everyone
on the app tracker it says app is being very carefully considered
but i received an email concerning the housing app saying (According to University records, you have not yet confirmed your enrollment. We hope you are planning to attend the
University in the fall and we are writing to remind you that in order to be guaranteed a space in University Housing) does this mean am accepted or not yet?

i do not understand my acceptance?
Congratulations on your admission to the College of Liberal Arts - pre Engineering for fall semester , what does it mean am i in engineering or not?

How about transfer applicants? Was the decision made before the status showed"being very carefully considered" or after? I also want to know does everyone who was admitted by U of M ever had a status—being very carefully considered ? Also, does anyone who got a rejection ever had this too ?

I applied as a transfer too. I had the “very carefully considered” and was waitlisted at the CLA. On the other hand, my friend who applied as a transfer had that status and was accepted. It all just varies. But the “very carefully considered” status basically means a decision has been made one way or the other.

Did you submit your TOEFL score?
I got the email saying my application was complete and all supporting material has been recieved and ready for the priority deadline. To my horror, I logged in this morning to see that UoM still required mt TOEFL score :/

I’m from an English speaking country, went to an English speaking school and got good marks on my SAT for English. ***. My counsellar said TOEFL wasn’t necessary… Now I’m worried my application wasn’t reviewed at all…

they said the same thing to me, but i called them and asked them about it. they said that as long as you have obtained above a 430 on the critical reading section of the SAT, your TOEFL requirement will be waived. So just call them up, tell them your U of Minn pin code, and they’ll do it for you :)
