How exactly does the mailing system work at UCSD? Do we all get little mail boxes in front of our dorm or something? What if we get a package, how does that work out?

thanks for any answers :D

I don’t remember where I’ve read about this before, but basically we get our own mailbox for letters but for packages we get a notification to go pick them up at a location on campus.

Well, the address that’s listed in your fall rooming assignment has a number in front. That number is basically a little box (sort of like a P.O. box) that you’ll get a code for soon. They’re usually around res life of your college. If you get big packages, they’re either sent to res life or the campus mailing complex thing. Either way, you’ll get an e-mail telling you where to pick it up from.

You’ll get your mailbox number and code number when you move in. However, mail and packages will not be accepted until the 20th

If the package is from a company such as UPS, Fed Ex, or DHL, you will get an email when you receive a package and you can pick it up at your college’s residential life office, or somewhere like that (they’ll tell you somewhere). If the package is from the United States Postal Service (USPS), you will get a letter in your mailbox saying that you received a package, and you pick it up at the Campus Services Complex which is by the Canyon View Pool on Voight Dr.

^I’m in ERC, and all of my packages were available for pickup IN ERC. we didn’t have to go anywhere. It really varies by college

Any cases of having packages stolen or anything?

No. The system is pretty secure

thanks for the detailed answers! :D

I had the feeling that it might not have been every college. Regardless, they’ll tell you.
