So I accepted the admit, got my NetID.... got my Enterprise ID (I must say, the password regulations are WAY too restrictive....)...

Now, do I really have to wait 48 hours before i do a housing form?

Im an engineer, but I am not / dont want to be extremely quiet and studious and in that environment... not too loud either... middle way you know?
So, ISR -> Allen -> Snyder ?? or Garner? how does that look

also, what other dorms are relatively close to ISR?

Also, for the Summer Registration... what exactly is it? Do i really have to go to UIUC for one day in the summer? what if im international?

At summer registration, they give you a speech about what stuff you need for your program, give your family/guests (if you have any there) presentations about parent programs, other general things they might need to know, then they get a spiel about what stuff is needed for your program as well. Then you meet up for lunch and then meet with an adviser and register in the afternoon. You find out what time the appointment is when you check in.

You could end up with lots of time to kill. They have tours going on, a room full of different resources (fin aid, housing, etc) if you or family members have any questions so they're not having to run all over, they usually try to push you into pre-ordering your books at the bookstore for the fall, etc. Usually lots of coupons or free stuff being given out, so plenty of time to hoover that up. They have some registration days at the end of the summer just a few days before classes begin for international and out of state -- Aug 18, 19, and 20 I believe. Though some classes might be pretty picked over by then.

After freshman registration last year they locked the schedule students registered for at the end of the day and they stayed locked til late August as well -- so when they unlocked and people got a chance to change their schedules again (because of AP score results, changing mind, whatever), some things that were closed before had a few spots open back up. Gotta check often or have lucky timing if it's a popular class (or good timeslot) though.

so if because i am an international and plan on going to the registration in august, is there a way i could sign up for the courses sooner? online or something like that?

also, do i have to do anything over the internet regarding the summer reg. ? like now / soon?

I'm pretty sure, that as a first-year student, you HAVE to sign up for classes in person at registration. It really sucks, but that's the way they do it. Here's a good idea: pick a wide range of classes you are interested in, because a lot of the ones you want will be filled up already.

ok, so i accepted the offer, got my IDs, did my rooming stuff... and i have some questions

me and my friend did the rooming form and we requested each other, however, it said that offers after april 1st are not guaranteed... can i do something about this? like call them or something?

also, is there anything else i should be doing soon?

the registration, homework, and anything else? those two things... i can do later like in june /july if im an international student right?

And im pretty much gonna get shafted on the classes? no other way around? how am i gonna get shafted.... like 8am classes? or something like that? or simply like... NO classes to take that i want to...

My son did not submit his roommate request until the end of April last year and his request was honored. I also called to make sure that although the request was made after the deadline, would it still be honored and the person with whom I spoke to stated that it was fine.
My son is in the engineering school and he had a hard time with his schedule -trying to fit in the required classes with his lectures and labs - so he did have 8:00am classes during both semesters this year. But his friends who are in the Liberal Arts school and the business school did not seem to have that much of a problem with their schedules - so maybe being "shafted" depends on what particular major you have declared.

No, we are not international. My son went to summer registration in mid June - around June 13th. It was maybe the second or third day of registration and he still had a problem with his schedule - many of the classes were already closed (go figure!!) so it was very hard to schedule his classes. Other students did not have as hard of a time as he did though.
And maybe the university sets aside a certain number of spots in certain classes specifically for international students?? You should really just call the admissions office and hopefully all or most of your questions will be answered.
Good luck!
