what kinds of colleges does brown accept tranfer people from? what is the criteria for accepted transfers of brown?

Straight from the Brown Admissions Website:

" To be eligible for transfer application you must have completed at least one full year of college study (or its equivalent) before your planned matriculation at Brown. Both part- and full-time students at accredited two- and four-year colleges may seek transfer admission consideration. Because Brown requires degree candidates to complete a minimum of two years in residence and in full-time study, students with more than two years of college credit are discouraged from making transfer application."

Is the transfer rate for brown really low like other top universities? and again, from what kind of universities does brown accept tranfer students from?- any examples

or does the transfer depend upon the credentials of that particular student completelya dn not at all on the college they are coming from

The transfer acceptance rate is 20-30% each year (from a Brown admissions guy I talked to). The admissions guy also said they take people from community colleges, although I have no idea how many. I also don't know how strong the transfer applicant pool is. I'm guessing its going to be pretty intense. Spring transfer is less competetive than fall, which is why I'm applying for spring =)

brown is muchhhhhhhh easier to transfer into than to be accepted as a freshman.

I'm not sure how the admissions statistics will be in the upcoming year because until very recently financial aid for transfer students was extremely limited. A more generous policy [though it still has a good ways to go] has recently been adopted which may move numbers some.

dm3- you may as well apply for the fall, and choose the option to defer for spring if you are not accepted initially. The applications are due on the same date and you lose nothing for being reviewed twice.

hmmm, i just may do that, thininvisiblehand. thank you =)
